Where do you plan to put buttons for rear seat heating? I'm up to fit heating in rear seats too, but have no idea about button placement as middle console is full.
BTW if you haven't fitted heated door locks yet, you can do a full HAA type key conversion. It's the flat one like in later B5's, C4's and up. Nice and easy to do modification.

I really like these, but I think you've made the right choice with the Avus wheels
If you look in the for sale thread, there is a pic of will20v's old avant with 17 inch versions fitted. Nice rims

I have been looking into that, I did mod the rear ashtray to house them hidden inside (make sure if you cut that tray you have good ventalation and a mask on the stuff's awful) but once fitted they hit the transmission tunnel.

If I change to the earlier buttons its easier and they are not as deep as the later one's so don't house the relays as well. I may well house them inside a center armrest back or something like that when I finish it all up.

All my switches inside have also been switched to the later a8/s8 style one's so more up to date.

The heated door locks I already fitted. The wiring was a five minute job to do with everything out, the black box is in the correct place on these cars. The one thing I found was the drivers outer surround from the green door could not be used as the lock barrel/handle is different. I will try get a picture to show this. I ended up taking the outer handle surround off a different car.

Looks great. Avus suit it well... should make for a swift economical motorway and cross country machine.

Once I get back into full time work and everythings sorted out i'll see what it goes like on the a4 engine with remap then probably up the power.

I have been thinking a bit lately about a pd engine as they go bloody well. My daily does 120mph in 4th no sweat and thats stock, proper little rocket.

I have done this too, looks great.
Only difference in surrounds i know about, is that surrounds from C4 and pre-facelift B5 has bigger hole due to heating and AHH key. Apart from that surrounds were similar and whole door handle is the same between these 3 models.
I had an idea to put heating switches in doorcards armrests, but i'm not quite sure they'll look good there

I don't think there is enough space there, i've already thought about it.

yeah I stll don't think there is quite enough space once you take into account the plug on the back of it.

I have the looms etc in the car now but have not got to do that yet apart from the attempt using the stock ash tray which was a no go. You can't even put them underneath towards the front of the car as they hit the handbrake lever. I am tempted to look into the rs4 style panel and see if thats shallower or even the rear setup for in a a8 4.2 diesel as that looked brilliant when I was looking around one recently, only problem would be i'd end up doing the front to match.

I wouldn't bother putting heatred elements in the rear, I mean how often do you have a passenger in the back of the car on a cold morning? And out of them, how many do you give a **** if they have a cold butt?

That looks awesome dude, you have been busy!

How "bolt on" was the quattro conversion? In Nitec's thread it seemed quite straight forward if you had an 80fwd and an 80q?

Are you thinking of copying Doug's a4 tdi engine spec? 200bhp and 50mpg is pretty cool!

That sucks on the job front, good luck getting some cashflow again

Its not quite as straight forward as his thread, biggest issue was he didn't have the fuel tank to worry about as he had a fuel cell (from what i remember)

You need to find the two mounting holes under the sealent at the back.
Either make or cut the diff bracket off a quattro and remove the spot welds then weld into the new car then do the prop bracket as well.

There is quite a few other little changes, a lot of the mounting studs for shields etc I had to grind off the car.

great minds think alike, I have been following dougs thread for a while and spoke with I think it was cliveh's son who had been using the car and general opinion of the car is its mental. I have been thinking about that route but also after driving the daily driver i'm also tempted by a pd engine but it all depends what the future brings.

The pd engine would be fun as you can get big power out of them easily. A remap on a 130bhp one has seen someone I know get 190bhp and shed loads of torque and then there is the option of going further with different turbo's etc. My daily is mental as it is, does a nice 120mph in 4th whilst still returning 50's at that speed.
