This thread is the passionford one. Some good ideas/info shame the guy had a fall out with the builder eventually.

better late than never no particular order you will notice the door bars are raised from the base of the a pillar, as this is to leave room for the next faze of the cage.

Remember to check your tyres speed rating, puncture at 199 mph would be ****.

This I the first if seen this thread. Good idea and job so far. Aerodynamics will play a big role keeping you on the ground at that speed. My typ85(I know it's more of a brick than an s2) gets pretty floaty at really high speed. I'm guessing 150 plus as speedo only goes to 135 and the modded r32 seemed to be disappearing in the rear view till I got scared.

you will find some 6tr trannys with 3,889 ratio( rare) maybee in some audi diesel versons ( and in vw 4motions passat, from 98-2005)... and then use the stroker with longer conrods... no prob with the 200mph....i think you may fin some of this in youtube ( may audi 200, its paractis the same car)

i have to admit one of the main reasons i am doing this is because it scares me.

you can not buy the rush that fear gives you, if you could i am sure it would be alot cheaper than building this car.

tyres i have yet to look at as it will be at least another 7 years from the pricing i have had so far along with the time needed to build as much myself as possible.

i will look into the 4 motion box, again alot of my plans have come from what i have read on other peoples projects and any form of cost saving will be an advantage but i only want to build it once. trying to slide these sort of numbers passed the partner is not easy and i dont want to ask her again lol.

Cant remember who I sold it to in the end although someone like that does ring a bell somehow... I didnt have the car long, less than a year,

Here it is pictured probably late 2002 early 2003...

I probably bought the Euro plates for it, I think I still have the plates I took off in the garage!

so after spending some time listening (not often i do) i have continued with the shell prep

so far i have stripped the engine out for the third time in less than a year getting quite quick at it now.

i have dropped both subframes removed all the panels and have a shell with a loom left and some engine bay bits and bobs, i will be deleting the abs and carbon canister but for now i want to clean paint and rebuild all sub assemblies intern to refit in standard form.

this is just an exercise as i have little experience,i am in no rush i just want to know that when i have got my head around the engine and gearbox choice. there are as fewer issues to uncover during the fit out as possible.

You have your main rad bypassed there.
For futures you need to blank off the two pipes for the aux rad rather than connecting them.
Nice workspace you have got there.

I've seen 180 mph (indicated in my RS2) and I think I still had some rpm pre limiter left.
Frankly, I wasn't watching the dials too much as that's F***ING quick even on an autobahn.

Still, you're gonna need a longer 6th gear, a very long road with no other cars and probably a fair bit more BHP than 420 ish....

That said, go for it! I've done many, many track days. Several days at the Ring and a vmax scared me more than all of the rest put together!!

my missis has tolerated me fixing bikes in the house and boats on the drive and outboards on the kitchen table.

i ran a bike repair business from the house and kept all my stock in wardrobes, cupboards and behind the sofa so when i knew i was going to walk away from the guy who bought me out she said i had to find somewhere else to work.

there are a few shady repairs i have found cut springs on the front h&r rears it keeps me out of trouble though
