When ish done the 6 speed conversion on mine ish used the 6 speed tunnel as he said they are a pain in the bum to select gears if you don't .

Yeah I spoke to Ish and he explained the same to myself, I don't even know where the S2 tunnel is now as I put it somewhere safe

Just going to have to drop it all out and go from there I think

Have another linkage made up so next days off (if its warm) will try to change it over before dropping everything back out.

The linkage is not fouling the tunnel?

Andy I think it is but also think its catching the manual speedo connection on the gearbox.

I needed another person there to try the gears whilst looking at it

i have also typ 85 with 6-speed gearbox and use the origional linkage from typ 85 (just one rod)
i swapt the ball on the gearbox lever so from 6 speed big ball to small bal from typ 85 5 speed gearbox.i also made a bracket for the little rod above the gearbox
inside i have adapted the gear stick and have used parts from my urs4 donor
                          no trouble with the tunnel

                            Taff,

Dave, (coupequattrodriver) off the CA forum uses original typ 85 tunnel with his 6 speed box with no issues.
He experimented with the selector/ linkage and made some brackets etc. in order to steer away from modifying the tunnel.

Right now Will is doing the 6 speed conversion on mine. Using original tunnel. Give him a call. Sure he'll be able to offer advice over the phone. Could also make you a copy of the linkage that he'll use on mine?
