Oh dear, sorry to hear that, any codes?

I'm wondering if the bottom pulley has turned on the keyway, sooner you get the belt off and check the better IMO, it might explain the issue with the timing being out and then getting no better when corrected.

You will sleep that off. It's going to be something fundamental that has been overlooked. I share same suspicions as newsh on timing belt or keyway. A couple / few hours spanner time will tell you - but you need the proper crank lock tool to get the bottom pulley off. Annoying but don't lose faith !

Don't have any tools or time or money. And I am off to uni next Saturday.

I'll hook up laptop tomorrow and start taking the timing apart and hope it's nothing expensive.

I havr only had probelms with it since I started driving (if you can call it driving).

janis - STOP!!! you've done what most of us on these forums do - trying to do it yourself !!!!

now, before you sell it and regret it, take some time and some money and get it to the right mechanic. these things are hellishly complex old machines and for you to get advice from one guy to the next on this forum will only drive you insane !!! i just happened to be lucky with the n75 replacement to get mine running correctly, but i think that you've got to the stage where you need professional help (for your mind too, like the rest of us!!).

get it to someone who knows these things inside out, pay the inevitable £***'s bill and be done with it. you will then enjoy your car again and won't have to admit yourself for psychiatric evalution!!

                  all the best,

No fault codes. Car is cranking, but seems as it it doesn't have either fuel (fuel pump is ok, so is fuse and relay) or there is no spark. Car sort of juddered twice before loss of power

Only time when i will give my car to anyone is if it's electrical fault.

Timing belt slip maybe and G40 now out of alignment - an LED test on G40 will only tell you if the sensor is working, but you need a scope to see if G4 & G40 are correctly aligned.

Only other thing causing a no-start like that is a fuse blown for the coilpacks or injectors.

A failed G28 will prevent the fuel pump from being activated... again a scope is needed to see all the primary sensors.

You can 'hacktivate' the fuel pump of course, but if G40 is missing or out of position you well get no sparks !

I would say it needs a specialist (or an educated enthusiastic amateur with the right tools) to get the root cause.

I was to take timing off again, so i might as well do that, and check all the pulleys, if it is timing, i can do it myself, if it's still not running after properly I'll take it to Vrs

All you can do mechanically is double check the timing and particularly the state of keyways on the sprockets. That is an absolute fundamental to establish before doing any electrical tests. You do need correct tools for doing that properly though and you need a new bottom pulley bolt for peace of mind as well - dont reuse the old one as its a 'stretch' bolt.
