If you like duck egg blue have a look at guinea blue.
Be careful about going too far with the engine. I ran a 2 litre abf and kr mix in my caddy with a number of bits done. It produced 160 bhp comfortably and revved its nuts off. That said in my opinion the chassis struggles to keep Things going in a straightml line. It somewhat ruined the enjoyment

Point very much taken It's a very light FWD car. Turbocharging in this application is unnecessary. I want something with linear torque all the way up hence the vtec posibility. I also like the way the jap engines appear to rarely leak oil.
All the VAG engines I have ever owned, as good as they are all seem to have a built in anti external corrosion system

"For what you spent on that you could have brought a new car"
BUT I DON'T WANT A NEW CAR!
1995 S2 Avant, Volcano Black
1982 VW Golf Mk1, primer yellow, will be finished one day, maybe.
2003 VW T4 long nose X pack, (has become project)
Whatever you do, don't go too daft on the power front. A guy from my work's recently finished off his (403bhp) turbo Mk1 track car...he can't get any traction with it now & is seriously contemplating making it 4WD with DSG...not cheap at around £10k for the additional mods!
The lack of a front mainframe and light weight chassis means that it cannot take big power without some serious work.
I never get vr6 engined mk1 it makes them understeer. What ever you fit keep it light!
I ran a rebuilt abf with a breathed on kr head with a custom 4 branch and free flow exhaust with a free flow airbox.
to be honest I just threw it together cleaning and painting as I went.
I set it up then took it out. In a word torquesteer!
Is there much difference between the ABF and KR head?
ABF cams have more lift, KR more duration (I think!) But either way not much in it on the road. The mk3s with ABF used Digifant and the old 1.8s used K Jet. Get one of the two if you do go 2.0 16v - don't bother with 6a, 9a or ACE; K Motronic is a rarer management system, and they have milder cam setups.
I'm sure I've read that the ABF head itself is 'better', not sure in what way though, maybe bigger ports/better flow.
I like the vtec idea!! But I'd imagine it would be custom fabrication a go-go. Not that an ABF would ever be plug and play, but you get my point!
