Is it wrong that I managed to do a couple of hours on this on Christmas day and boxing day
I'm now on the final 10% of underseal removal and it's all corners and very awkward
Bought some of these for the die grinder, they are lethal! bits of wire fly off at million miles an hour
Some more corrosion exposed, top of drivers rear wheel arch. More welding, still I'm getting quite good now
Order placed with Bilt & Hamber. H80, epoxy mastic and dynax seam sealer.

I won't tell Natalie you suggested pink or that will be it It would be the most hideous colour to paint the iconic MK1 GTI.
I remember when Mk1 Gti's had filtered down to the young crew by about 89/1990,by that time being more affordable,guys who owned older versions of the Mk1 gti in black or red which were quite a common sight used to rave about the rare Campaign models in Lhasa Green and the Helios Blue. These guys and magazines back then raved about those colours.Just thought i would mention what the popular wisdom was back then.
If you really cannot bring yourself to staying with an original colour i too think Audi Pearl Blue (LZ5T) would suite the car very nice,thinking of Skully's S2 Avant stunner. You have a nice decision to make albeit a difficult one.All the best with it!

That's a cracking shell you have there, very little rot for something so old. I love mk1 golfs so cant wait to see how it ends up when finished.Comment

Small update;
Welding is now finished
Might be slight delay now as I have had to start work on our kitchen to keep her indoors happy Spent last 2 days removing wall and installing an rsj.
