    My view this morning

Looks like there is 2 kinds of underseal on this. A thick epoxy mastic applied to wheel arches and other key areas and a bitumen based product covering the whole lot.
The epoxy is over paintable and will be left on unless its lifting.
The bitumen has to come off. Not a nice job

keep the positive comments coming guys it sure dose help

Just having a look and taking some measurement to build a uni strut rotisserie frame.
Ill knock it up this week and get the car fliped 90 degrees will make the whole task of the underside a load easier.

Had a better look at the right hand rear beam mount, a little worse than I first thought.
So I chopped the rot out and had a good poke around behind.

Ground all the rot out, applied H80 and did a little welding.

          Will plate over this too.

            Looking good.A proper job!

When you say H80 is that the same as trustan a rust converter that's been available since the early 80's? it turns a panel Blue/black during the rust conversion process or is H80 different? Have you got a picture of it?

I hate my work as it keeps getting in the way of me cracking on with this

Found some time to day and welded up the rotisserie frame.

Should make stripping the underside off a million times easier.
Planning to get the underside painted over the Christmas holiday.

                        Little by little

                        This weeks purchase

Found a few hours this afternoon. Goggles on, earphones in for several hours non stop grinding and we ain't there yet!

I think it's Rich 1 underseal nil though.

Anybody who has done this on axle stands has my unreserved admiration it's a **** job at this angle.

Have found a fun game to play; finding all the VW/Audi logs in the panels

Apart from the rear been mount mentioned earlier in the thread she is proving to be very solid. You cant really tell from this shot but this seam is a little rusty so I think I will grind it off and seam weld it.

Only other thing worth noting is the where some idiot in the past has jacked it on the chassis rails. A bit of slid hammer action will sort this out though.

Having a well earned beer now and trying to get the dust out of my ears

Good work mate, looks like you've broken the back of it
Are you going to open the rusty seam to treat inside?
What products are you planning for reapplying under seal? I really like the 2k 3M stuff, just like OEM. Expensive though

It,s a spot welded seam so my thoughts where to grind it almost flush and stich weld it.

I agree regarding underseal a 2k epoxy mastic (never used a bad 3M product) overpainted with base/lacquer.
Colour has to be decided definatley at that point!

                              Little to report at present.

I'm at that stage where you spend many hours doing stuff but not much appears to happen

I flipped her the other way on the frame and the rusty seam was cut off

Followed by stitch welding and grinding back what was left

Today's choice of colour is Nagaro blue
