  • Hello. Went 4th year of construction.
Slowly but surely we go to the dream.

Recently found a carpet in good condition. What is already a rarity. You will need to clean it and you can install it.
Until the wiring is laid out, there is no sense in putting it.

    • The engine block was also prepared for sand blasting.
All threads were closed and plane. Cleaned with sand at very low pressure.

      • Next, the block was cleaned of rust, and immediately painted with secret paint.
Which does not break and is not afraid of blows.
The paint has already been tested more than a dozen times on different blocks.
Lives with a large exploitation of more than 6 years. If refers to the motor carefully, then forever.

          • Further, the lower and upper plane were ground, the lower one together with the oil pump housing and the crankshaft oil seal housing.

            • ALL THAT IS WRITTEN BELOW, PERSONALLY OUR OPINION, FORMED IN OUR EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE. TRUTH AT EVERYONE OWN.

And so, after I missed the moment with the purchase of the original new oil pump, and since recently it has stopped selling, the stocks at the factories have run out.
And the last ordered pumps were made in Korea, and the quality is also controversial.
Differences from pumps manufactured in Germany, in the early 2000s there.

Began to look for and select an option for your motor.
As many know, pumps from different engines visually and on fastenings are similar to the AAN pump.
They come from the bolt of it, from many models, for example from AAR / AAN / NG / ABY / ADU / 3B / 7A / AAT /, from 2.5TDI R5 AEL, crafter, transporter and others.

The difference in the protection under the timing belt, additional bypass roller, which is in diesel engines and a pair of threads in different places. You can remove the bypass roller, saw off on the body what hinders and will be like the original.
The gears, the housing inside and the holes for the flow-out oil are the same on all pumps.
Of course, the production method and quality is very different.

And so what we have, three factory AAN original pump, analog diesel AEL FEBI and analog engine AAR BGAutomitive.

Also currently on sale is TOPRAN, JPGroup and SWAG for the price of 500+ euros.
By the way, the original from Korea is also on sale on a couple of sites with a price tag of 700 euros.

And so all 5 pumps were opened, and what we have.

              1 / Original AAN 054 115 109B mileage 200,000 km.
The state is close to ideal, there is almost no production in the canals, there is a factory milling. Minor radial play of the internal gear. The pump cover has slight signs of wear.
Conclusion: low mileage, correct oil, frequent replacement + factory quality of the body and compliance with manufacturing tolerances.

              2 / Original AAN <b> 054 115 109B mileage 400,000 km.

The condition is poor / critical, severe damage around the entire circumference, traces of metal particles entering the channel, grooves, chips on gears, play in both gears.
Conclusion: oil of irregular viscosity, long replacement intervals, ingress of foreign bodies into the oil system, high mileage, possibly breaking the camshaft chain.

              3 / Original AAN 054 115 109B mileage unknown.

The condition is terrible, all the oil channels are plowed through, the play of the gears on all fronts is strong, the rear cover of the pump is very worn with traces of large metal particles.
Conclusion: either cranked the crankshaft main bearings or camshaft chain was broken and subsequently used the old oil pump. Rare oil changes, improper viscosity, driving at high speeds on a cold engine.

4 / Analogue FEBI 30232 new. Price from 180-230 euros.

The condition is new, the body is beautiful and made with dignity, there are admissible casting hulls blemishes, the gears have a not very pleasant backlash, the height of the gears does not coincide with the height of the channels.
Conclusion: Not worth the money, it needs some bodywork for fitting the AAN engine, there is no side for the protection of timing belt.

              5 / Analog BGAutomotive 1805-56 new. Price 80+ euros

The condition is new, strong play of the gears, the diameter of the mounting hole for the small gear in the pump is less than in the original, because of this the gear is loose. The quality of the gears is poor, there are no chamfers, poor milling of the body, metal burrs inside the body. They developed their own pump cover with cavities, apparently to eliminate wear on the cover of the wide gear.

Conclusion: Do not even think of taking and placing it on the AAN motor, the same with all analogues up to 300 euros at least, price = quality, the only plus side for the protection of the timing belt, minimal body modifications, good porting is necessary, it is possible to move the gears from the old pump.

Total regards to all analogs and other pumps. Of course, we must either look for the original with minimum mileage, or take a new one, at least Korea, but for 700 euros the quality will most likely be like a swag or a faby. When building an engine and increasing power, be sure to disassemble and inspect the pump.
The prices for the swag were screwed up sharply, 2 years ago the swag costs 300 euros, now when the original has been taken out of production and cannot be found, the price tag has been raised almost 2 times.

We decided to put the original used with low mileage. Guided by the condition.

It may even be a comparison of 5 pumps that are different in their condition, however, conclusions can already be drawn. I would like to get both SWAG in hand and the KOREA option and take a look there, but spend 1000 euros for a post on the drive as it is too much. I think you can find the original with high mileage, in very good condition, but this is rare. In general, if you take the pump to 200 tons. Km, then with a 90% probability it will be good.

I hope someone this info is useful.

              Sorry for google translate.

              • Interesting reading. So it is not possible to buy a good quality NEW oil pump?

Maybe Audi Tradition will make some (unlikely)

If you find true made in Germany pump, that was made in 2000+ it will be perfect. New OEM AAN oil pump that was made in Korea have already quality like febi. Korea OEM 700+ eur and febi 300+ eur , why to spend more.

And yes you can not buy perfect oil pump today with the quality like it was from a factory in 90s.

                      • The gridle plate was grounded, light porting was made for better circulation of oil along the walls of the plate.

                          • The engine block was bored and honed with a false head.
The main bearings covers were also polished.
