    UrS6 project

    Hey guys!

I am a young mechanical engineering student from Romania and proud owner of a 1996 UrS6 manual. As you can imagine there is a lot to do on it unfortunately, but it was dirt cheap at least. It was in a really bad shape when i got it, the car hesitated at high load, probably because of the 1.7bar (stock) over boost, one cylinder was not working, the fuel pump was a 3 bar from an Audi 100, it wasn't braking as it supposed to. But I can go on and on... My biggest problem is the budget, I cant get done much in a short period of time, but hey, it's a project, it's meant to last

I had some things done (undocumented unfortunately) such as replacing the fuel pump, replacing the battery (that's why a cylinder was not working) and now the wastegate and N75 is off the car to (supposedly) solve the over boost problem, the wastegate seemed to be in a good shape, probably the spring heat treated itself and got stiffer, thus letting less air to bypass the turbo, or could've just been the N75, which just broke in half while removing the conduct from the downward pipe of the N75. In two weeks I will know.

    Anyways have a great day!

Welcome, what a great car to be starting with.

This forum is the place to be. Also quattroworld.com for the "how to" routines.

Enjoy, make it a keeper as it will work for each stage of your life.

Not many cars of this age can do away with a proper service and replacement of worn out 20 yr old parts . It is a joyful ride to bring an URS6 to its former state , and you will love the way you got there .

      All the best

Apparently my N75 looks like this:

I guess it should be in one piece with a spring in it...

Will the sound be worth the effort ?

Shame to muck up the door panels.

the rear speakers are dead, and the front tweeters are also dead, so anything is better, ftr its a nokia not a bose on it, without amp and a sub

I would focus more on engine first to make it run smooth. I have the Bose system on my S4 and the only time i turn it on is when i need some news, otherwise i think the system is worthless. There is lot of work to bring some interesting sound into this car. Don't know if worth it.

I was thinking about newer BOSE in my S4, but as many people on here pointed out, BOSE designed it for a specific car, so you will loose quality as soon as you take it out, and aftermarket stereo will bring it down even more. I would take that money and get high quality amps etc. As I am not a "musician" I have some £30 speakers at the front and rear and some fat **** sub in the boot and it does it for me.

Best of luck with the restoration project.

Same here. I have an inwards firing free-air sub, bolted to the ski-bag hole, and Pioneer co-axial speakers in front and back. I like it. Nothing fancy, but satisfies me completely.

Hey guys, update: wastegate came back, no problems with it, apart from the gaskets, they just disintegrated on removal, if someone knows where to find the codes for them I'd much appreciate!

I need the gaskets on the ends of this stuff.
                            Much appreciated!

Only the gaskets and the N75 keeps me from enjoying the beauty
