I think you mean block or oil pan...
The "crank" as I know it rotates and has the connecting rods, uh, connected to it. I misunderstood...
From what I gather I will be using the 7A components for the aircon and alternator. This should put in the same position as the S2 I think.
Damn! SO much to figure out!
I am on the hunt for pistons now. Waiting for a call back from a local VW race engine builder.

      TIA,

        Dave,

There are 2 sources I have found. One is Erwin where you can order info from the VAG website directly. I have done this to do my timing belt change. It's not cheap.

The other is to buy the whole Bentley ( 3 volumes) for the 200 TQ IIRC. It covers all the motors used including the 3B so it is somewhat overkill. I have looked at the illustrations and they are exactly the same as from Erwin.

If you are planning to do a lot of work, I think the Bentley will be cheaper in the long run.

        Rich

        Good luck with the E-S2

            Are you going with new:

            valve springs?

            lifters?

            valve keepers?

            oil squirters?

These answers are apparent to me in rebuilding an American engint but this is my fist German engine...

              Are you wanting uprated rods?

Cos greg is selling his S2 rods and as far as i'm aware there is nothing wrong with them.... Altho they are from an ABY, are they the same?

                @ Dave:
No I'm keeping all those parts. I did check them and to my opinion there's nothing wrong with it. The shop told me the same thing.

                @ Ant
I do want to get some serious rods. Am awaiting some quotations. probably carillo's

Been a while since my last post.

Stainless steel tubular exhaust manifold is taking shape. Post pictures of it tommorow. Got my JE pistons. Man they are sweet

The shop will hone the engine next week. And therefore i'm now making (with dutchblueS2) a Torqueplate.

Has anyone used this to hone there engine? I'd like to know anybody thoughts about this procedure.

I'm going for the eurospec rods. btw.

                      cheers

Jeffer, what is a torque plate? How much bigger are you going with your cylinders? Is the shop doing the honing?

                          This is a toque plate.
You have to bolt it on the engine before youre about to bore it. Then tighten it to the torque you normally tighten your cilinderhead on. So then you can bore it with the plate on top of it. This way the engine will be understress like it would be as it had the cylinderhead on top of it. So you can say that its a cylinderhead simulator.

                          Hope you get thepoint,

And to make the job even more perfect, use a torque plate and fill the engine block with water heated up to 90 deg C to simulate a running engine as close as possible.
