Jeffer - that's a bore not a hone. Honing does not change the size of the cylinder. Where did you source your pistons?
What are the metric steps in oversized pistons? I am used to American cars where the common step is .030" on the bore.
I finally got my 3B out of the donor car last night. Cheap cigars and cheap beer were had by all...
    see it here:

      Oh you're right Dave,
Hone....... next time I'll write it in dutch

I bought them directly from JE pistons. in the Us. The guys at the shop drawn a picture of my pistons and send it to JE.
Don't know by hart the steps form a metric oversize? Will ask what it's exactly.

Typical oversizes are in 0.25 steps. So 81.25, 81,50, 81,75.

Do you have to get pistons custom made? Aren't there off-the-shelf oversized pistons available for these beasts?
Thanks for the info on oversize increments. What size did you get Jeffer?

Go ahead and post in Dutch Jeffer, I live in a Pennsylvania Dutch area. ;-)

No they don't have off the shelf pistons at JE. And if you buy them at audi You're not going to be happy. Bloody expensive.......
So JE became the choice. I get 2 oversizes.

Yep. I noticed that, but do they have to be JE? Mahle can be oblained from a machine shop.
Dealers only sell the original size.

I got a quote on pistons! Retail for $2400 USD!!! My cost $1300!!!
                    That is far too much!!!
Jeffry, did you go through the J&E website? What was the cost?
                    They are forged, correct?

                    Thanks,

Oh, and no I didn't get them from the site. I've had the shop take care of it. They knew exactly what to get.

I'm still waiting for my pistons

I can't wait any longer I Want to put all the nice parts together.
The last thing I bought were RS2 Injectors from Habib, and a RS2 Intercooler, and 100 euro's off "the finest" in stainless steel bolts :wacked:

                        Cheers

Btw: I have a crank from a 3B engine without Airconditioning. But my car has airco. what to do with the connection in the cranck? Make it a blind connection?

Yeah that's what I meant. Ok i'll block this off then.
Dave: You wanted the oil pan extension!!!! Did you so bear in mind!

there is one with a oil drain pipe attachment to it and one withouit this connection.
This engine that I'm rebuilding hasn't got airco, so the return pipe from the turbo goes directly in the cranck. On my current engine wich I'm driving right now. Is airco mounted to it. And the airco compressor is exactly in front off the return pipe, so that's why the extension has the attachment to it. So the return line goes around the compressor in the extension. Pffffff........... Hope you get it

Aicon compressor mount covers the oil drain hole in the block. You need an oil pan extension with the drain hole so obtain one extra or use your old one.

Didn't you say the engine was off a 200-20v? 200 has always the aircon compressor mounted on the other side so it always uses the drain hole on the block. I guess squeezing the 20v turbo in typ89 made some things a bit difficult so I consider that a "kludge"
