I had an email from Paul yesterday, he is moving house at the moment so things are a bit up in the air AFAIK. I will see if I can chivvy him along with another Group Buy sooner rather than later.
Also any queries about tooling costs need to be directed at Paul N
I am not sure i fully understand the sequence of events that led to the situation of the tooling rights for the samcos, as it was before my time on this forum. However it would seem to make more sense that Samco or SFS would be allowed to make these hoses at will or another method as there is an obvious demand for them.
I did buy a set for my S2 so i now a happy bunny, but that doesnt help anybody else.

Your missing the point of why the forum own the tooling rights in that it's cheaper!
If Samco owned the rights then the price of a kit would be alot higher.
SFS aren't that much cheaper either, look at the price of the SFS water hoses in comparison to the Samco ones (please no more arguements on this statement, this is purely a factual comment)
As i said i was not aware of the events or facts leading up to this situation. If the forum owns the rights to the tooling why is it down to one person, Paul, who is obviously busy and has a life outside this forum like the rest of us. Or is it a profit thing like Graham seems to suggest?
All i was trying to suggest was that it would make more sense if this could be initiated another way, for example by another forum member.

You'd have to speak to Paul over that issue, as he's made the initial contact to Samco, deals with Samco and sends all the kits out to members, ensures they are the correct quantity and quality and handles the group buy monies.
IMHO who else has the time and effort and has the correct contacts with Samco to do that?
Jamo, the forum does NOT own the rights, Paul does! Also, I fail to see how the forum is benefiting from Paul owning the tooling rights.
This is where the fact that we are a forum and not a club hinders us. Larger clubs such as the TiTie club have things manufactured and then sell them in their shops. Other clubs organise companies to retool and sell at reduced prices. However, since we do not act as a club: -
1. I cannot buy the hoses direct from Samco
2. Paul is too busy right now (fair enough - we all have lives)
3. They are not cheaper via Paul, as he is doing it for profit (this is purely a statement deducted from research and conversation, not a known fact ).
This is not a dig at Paul as I do not know him, but have benefited immensly from his knowledge and very helpful website. However, whilst there are several part time traders on here who sell parts on here to fund their own rebuilds, I cannot accept that Pauls restrictive methods are 'helping the forum'. If I am wrong, then many on here need to be educated.
If the SFS contact has dried up, then I will contact them and offer my car as a template. I suggest that a 3B owner does the same. Then SFS can own the rights (I am not here for profit) and you can all buy them whenever you choose.

P.S. The disadvantage of a bigger club like the TiTie club is that they are a bigger target and get ripped off more often. Recently a guy was on there selling some fabulous cleaning products which he claimed he formulated himself. Turns out he was re-labelling industrial products and charging 10x the price TiTie club found out and now buy direct, as the actual products are damn good.

I deal with SFS as we have the water hoses made by them. They are not interested in having the tooling as there are not enough cars to satisfy the quantity needed. ie/ if they make a set for the Nissan 350z they will sell a damn site more than if they made the S2. You can buy the tooling yourself, they are willing to do that but at about 300 quid ish per hose that works out quite expensive.
Ah, again the joys of an owners club

Problem is you view it from a different prospective, all who have Samco's (me included are happy) those who dont aren't.
If it wasn't for S2central there'd be no Samco hoses!! so how you can say that the forum hasn't benifited is beyond me

Yes, those that got in on the first group buy are happy, however, since this subject comes up virtually every week, I suggest that there are many more who are not.
A true benefit should be club/forum wide, not just for those who helped Paul buy the rights. If Paul had not done it, someone else would have. That is fact as several have tried. They would have allowed the rights to be dealt with in a way which would allow others to buy when the money is burning a hole in their pocket, not when a single individual feels inclined (which due to genuine reasons, Paul would seem not to be).
What happened to water hoses?
As I stated, this is not a dig at a guy I do not know, but rather a statement of position and a suggestion that in future, we club together for mutual benefit, not individual profit.
Those few who have hoses need only argue about who owns the rights, the many more who do not need to decide how to organise hoses for themselves - probably working inspite of Paul if he is doing other things.

This is strictly not true Jamo. Silicone COOLANT hoses springs to mind. Want a set of water hoses? Ask me and they will be delivered to any address in the UK within 10 days and any colour you like, overseas a bit longer. AND, i won't ask anyone for a deposit or money for tooling. Would anyone care for a set of boost hoses? You're on your own - or i'll organise it if you want. Get ten people together and i'll supply a set of Boost hoses at a cost of £220.00 per set in any colour you want (within reason) using EXACTLY the same materials as Samco use if that's a concern. I won't take any money off you for tooling either.
