  • Need an ECU for my 91 S2

Afternoon. I'm still tinkering with the rear bumped S2 I got off ebay a few weeks ago, despite my wife's rantings about getting rid of it. Sodding thing lost its spark though. Got an auto electrician to look at it and he says there's no juice going to the hall effect sensor. He reckons my ECU may be to blame. so... does anyone have an ECU for sale that will fit my 91 S2?
I'd be amazingly grateful (not in a man love kinda way though) if anyone can help out.

    cheers
    Noel

@fourcircle - if you can send the ECU to me I'll check it over if you like... Usual policy of 'no fix no fee' applies. I do have a spare upgraded 3B ECU but its not really for sale.

Does the 3B have a hall sensor? or is the hall effect sensor something different.

My 3b ecu will be up for sale some time soon, would need putting back to standard by Paul or the likes though unless you wanna push 2.0bar outta your K24

It's at Corey's so he would be the man to speak to.

                Cheers

Well not being 100% is why I called in an auto electrician. he told me there's no signal getting to the Hall sensor (if indeed that's what it's called) and offered to have it investigated for £45. Then if it needs fixed i'll need to pay for that on top. I said i'd ask about and let him know tomorrow what I want to do. I ran over the fuses in the fuse box but someone on audifans.net said the ecu fuses are to the side?? or maybe i picked it up wrong. are they in with the rest of the fuses? I'd have thought an auto electrician would have checked the fuses first but you never know.
I had even considered that being rear damaged there may be an earthing issue but when I suggested this to the guy he siad nothing at the back would affect the starting of the engine.

If the offer stands to have a look at it for me (and i'll pay you if a fix is needed) i can get it back off him and send it over to you. The whole thing's a bit strange. car was running well and I washed it and fastened up the panel under teh steering column properly (cos it wa shanging down). Took it out of my driveway and up the street, turned a sharp left and it just cut out completely. And here I am. Can't even get it round to the body shop to have the back end investigated.

Good job i'm not sleep deprived with the new baby and all... ah.. hang on.. yep. I am.

thanks for everybody's input by the way. It's really appreciated

Have a look at the side of the inlet manifold back near the dizzy, there's a bunch of brown wires bolted to it, check they are all ok and still bolted up tight.

The ECU fuses are in the main fuse box, 2 of them running across the car nearest to you, with a red plastic cover over them saying "MOTOR".

ah. I definitely didn't see that in there. There's no chance my fusebox could be different with the car being '91 then no? Of course if the plastic cover is missing I could just be looking for the pair of fuses themselves. I'll investigate in daylight. And check the brown wires.

again.. thanks mate. i'd be lost without the advice I get on here

right... I went out with my camera and took a couple of shots.

                          I found this at s2-audi.co.uk http://www.s2-audi.co.uk/tech_articl...e_fuse_box.htm

But my fuse box is different. see these pics

Position 23 is labelled "control until" among other things, but if position 23 is fartheset left of the row of 5 at the front it's curious that it's empty. Curiouser still is that the cover indicates that the front row should have fuses 23 to 30 yet there are only 5 spaces there. Am I totally missing some brain matter here?

Brown wires are def secure there

Although I did find a random connector in mid air.

Didn't notice it before so it's possible the auto electrician left some disconnected. Don't think this would be my main problem since the car suddenly died mid drive though.

Maybe I should buy a bike? with pedals.

Mine are in positions 27 and 28, a 10amp and a 15amp IIRC. You seem to have 2 fuses in there.

The numbers are for positions, you only have fuse holders in those positions if you need them for your car, for example you may not have heated seats. Strange that you have an empty fuse holder though.. The electrics on these early cars are often different, mine is a 92 and has a different cover to yours I think.
