Already got an ABY so don't need two but it would be pretty amusing.

mk 2/3 polos are great little thrashabouts
and all the mk1 golf bits i upgraded,(wheels, brakes, dash clocks, front seats etc) are a straight bolt in swap
Filler necks do rust and the tanks are a bit of a PITA fiddle to change but a new tank is only about £50. and there is something satisfying about thrashing the nuts off a car that cost peanuts...............

This is turning into a bit of a hunt, keeping me occupied anyway!
Found a GT for sale that looks good but the bloke's not replied to my recent PMs so he obviously didn't like my realistic offer
Found a GT conversion, then tried to get insurance and the best quote I could get was a mere £150 (60%) more than a standard GT with the same mods. Mindlessness of insurance companies strikes again.
Found a later 16v 1.4 that needs some work but it's got not tax or ticket so needs trailering and I can't test drive it legally so it's a real risk. It's up at good money but is a gamble as the top end is noisy...
So I'm still looking...Cheers'en, AndyC

I think I'll pass on this one thanks, it's not exactly a chuckable hot or even warm hatch
