it was only in possesion of Alltype's for a few days.

It was bouight off a bloke from Milton Keynes who advertised the car on pistonheads for £3500. I saw the advert which was "1 day old" and "sold via pistonheads" - within an hour or so he had bought it over the phone!!!

I was quite pissed off when Mr Alltype had it up for sale for £5000 a week or so later!! nothing had been done to it whatsoever. £3500 was a fair price and I ended up having to give him £4500 for it, so he earnt atleast £1000 on the car for doing nothing, he may even have given £3000 for it but I dont know.

I wouldn't have been too fussed if the car had been reliable because at the end of the day I got the model and colour I wanted, with fairly low mileage. But obviously it was a piece of you know what. Hope fully my mistakes will make people think abit harder when buying a car from Alltype.

@paul.m a lot of folk here tried to warn you in a polite way. Throw another £2000 at it and you'll have a nicely sorted car.

@OP in my view £6500 - £7000 is about the price of a well sorted late forum car.
If you spend less than that, or buy an original car, or buy off a dealer that's where you're gonna end up spend wise one way or the other. Le s2 audi advertised his car (not sure if he pulled the ad since) several months ago. If you could prise that car from his hands you'd be onto a winner.
Best of luck with your search and go drive several cars. I drove 3 cars before buying mine and they were all completely different cars.

Well ultimately when I'm done with the car, it will be one of the best around. But I'm not sure which side of 10k it will owe me by then

So if it comes with the original Avus rims, sell the chav wheels and use the money to buy carbon trim, stock airbox, steering wheel badge and 6-speed gear knob

No aircon or cruise but good looking base car.

I bought a black ABY coupe with 126'000, abit tatty on the body work and interior but nothing that couldn't be sorted out. It went well on the test drive, had lots of service history, pretty much everything worked so I parted £4500 for it.

The air-con doesn't work but you CANNOT afford to be that fussy. In 2007 there where 380 s2 coupes on the road in the UK, what you need to remember is that you're almost never going to find the perfect car, you will have to make a sacrifice when you buy one or be prepared to spend abit of money on it. If you where looking to buy a saxo VTR then fine, you can afford to dismiss one with faulty aircon, there are probably 380'000 of them on the road and you'll find another one to go and look at the same day.

6 weeks after having bought mine I have spent over £2k on it. First thing to let go was the turbo, then the coil packs, then the n75 boost valve, then the dump valve, and then the cylinder head cracked and its had to have a full top end rebuild. This is before I've even got the chance to tidy the body work and interior. Its now on a sorn and I can't afford to drive it. The air-con not working is the last of my worries!!

S2's are not cheap cars to run, especially ABY. If you drive it normally around town you struggle to get 20mpg. Drive it hard and you'll be looking at about 15mpg. Repair bills are expensive and parts are expensive and difficult to find (unless you know the right people) which is why you need to buy right in the first place.

You want to find one thats been well looked after that is in sound mechanical condition. I would find someone who is more familiar with these cars than you are, and get them to look at a car with you. mileage doesn't mean anything. Low mileage cars are quite likely to have been clocked anyway, and there are ways to make the paperwork look genuine to go with it, trust me, I know people that do it.

I'm not trying to put you off buying one, because they are incredible cars, but it all comes at a price.
Your post is accurate, 14mpg for me in the city.
Hope your luck improves, at least you have the colour you want, hope you get to enjoy it soon.

@op, take your time as you'll only buy the car once, if you're set on a Coupe (aby), consider a silver or dark blue one, IMHO.

Don't rule out Avants, as you'll never have to sell one becuase it can't accommodate kids.

Read this forum till your eyes hurt to learn about these cars because you'll save yourself some money and more heartache. Don't buy one if you're in any way worried about mpg, or can't do the work yourself / don't have an inexpensive and good mechanic readily available to you.

Meet someone near you who has an S2 for a while, and has been reading the forum for a while, and also try and get a go in a few to be able to recognise a good one when you come across it.

These cars cost a lot to run, but are absolutely great / very addictive.

                          Good luck with your search.

Post up photos and any info / spec when you do take the plunge.

                          HTH.

                          Kind regards.

Yea, on initial finding it looks reasonable. I called up and it was apparently sold but then a few days later it wasn't! Someone obviously decided against it!
Don't think it has the correct front bumper either?

I won't be parting with my money until I find the right one....she's out there somewhere!
