      Yup, they are the same.
Inlet camshaft has a different part code (no idea if there is actual difference), but exhaust cams have the same code between AAN and 3B.

Exhaust cam is the same part code though on ETKA, so I think for the purpose of this thread, an AAN or ABY exhaust cam will be perfectly fine.

                    Thanks for the offers guys

I've bought an adjustable cam pulley from Rosten and the key looks very small so I'm going to do the same as James and get it pinned

The later ABF 16v engines don't even use a ruff key their just pressed on. Same with 1.8t's and 2.7 rs4's etc....keyway is only there for correct timing location like the main crank pulley.

if you do some searches on here you'll find that's not quite the case on these engines...theres quite a few people had the key fail and all hell break loose.

Keyway breaking on camshaft time gear? Or keyway breaking on cam pulley because someone didn't renew the bolt, torque correctly or used a screwdriver or similar to lever pulley whilst torqueing.
or keyway on crank because the diamond friction washer wasn't replaced along with the pulley or bolt and torqued up correctly?

It is a common i5 failure with the crank pulley also having same issue
Andy is doing this because the cam wheel is Ali
I don't feel the need for this mod myself but it is worthwhile
