This is very good if perhaps somewhat overcomplicated. The main problem is finding people who can program any ECU. Ahmed Bayjoo definitely knows his stuff, but as he is so busy is a nightmare to get hold of. He has developed and enhanced the programming software. I think Wayne at chip Wizards can also work with Pectel (don't know how good he is though), but other than that I do not know of anyone else - perhaps someone else does?
      Cheers

        Hi Baz

The five cylinder version of the K3 is still under development. No traction control as yet either.

        Dave Walker.

I think im going for DTA then.
OK - Guess I'll have to wait then. I'll Email him also and tip him off there is a good number of I5 turbo owning maniacs with the desire for such a system. Its going to need to support the distributorless (5-coil) system for me and the big power boys will want support for two banks of five sequential injectors.

I don't see knock sensor support on the K3 either - I'd see that as much more important than traction control - we have quattro for that

Megasquirt should not? why? Because too many cars run on that ECU all ready?

Last time i checked even Motec didn't have inputs for knock sensors, so the cheaper stuff really wont.

Megasquirt guys were looking at it thiough.

A good compromise would be a knock-sensor device that could be used for mapping - give visual indication of knock intensity under load... Even if the ECU couldn't adjust timing from the inputs. There is a useful looking knock detection circuit at Megaquirt that I looked into - actually someone here offered to build it. Must dig that thread up.

I assume that Jamo's old car that got the Emerald treatment was a 3B (single coil) and the injectors were 'batch fired' instead of sequential.

                  Sigh............
How about the VEMS? Does it has sequensial injection or not?

VEMS has 2 Knock sensor capability, plug n play Motronic Harness ect.

I will look into VEMS, but I have just emailed 'the man' at Emerald and reminded him of the rampant market opportunity across the I5 fraternity of Audi and Volvo owners...

Hopefully will hear something back soon.

Sorry Paul my old car was an old Volvo turbo 4 cylinder!

I like VEMS what puts me off it looks very hard to program and I don't know anybody in the U.K who could program it?

That VEMS stuff has a lot going for it at least from a hardware integration POV with up to eight invidually controllable coils and injectors plus the integral MAP is nice along with knock support. They have obviously done an I5 Audi or two as well...

WOnder what its like to program ?

Sorry Jamo - had the page open to long - was out in the sunshine there for a moment - missed your post. Programming is my main concern unless its a really user-friendly system.

I've been told it's like low level code to program.

There's two members on here running, Jeffers and another member who actively is selling it.

So maybe they could shed some light on it?

Well,i was one of the first ones who installed successfully VEMS into a 5cyl Audi.Since then i made 4 20VTs and a 10VT is currently under construction.Having direct contact to the developer we managed pretty good results (11.19@206 with stock cylhead),including 5 coil support, and our individual trigger type. There are still some major problems with the system, but for that price you simply cannot find any better.

And it uses a modded MegaTune software.

About the "Auditrigger" (Stock audi 20VT trigger support) i cant say much, since i spent 3 days firin up the engine without sussecc back in 2006,i stopped messing with it.

VEMS also has now a Plug and Play solution for AAN engines, and i think for the ABY too.
