So far so good. not sure what one of these problem was the true cause but now when i'm cleaning my car i squirt wheel cleaner on and in the caliper and jet wash it out to stop any build up again.

    hope this helps.

    True
it must be a stuck caliper piston...
i changed my wheelbarings at first ...
still the sqeeling sound after driving a while
    that disapears when i touch
    my brakepedal
when thing get really hot the pads even get stuck to the discs

i,m gonna take the caliper of too give them a good clean again
problem is i bought the calipers new and had that problem all the time
    even with new calipers .

A good cleanup and copper grease on the backs and edges of the pads sorted mine out.

Ive got the 996's with DS2500 pads and suprise - i've had the same problem for about a year (since they were fitted) on the passenger side. The high-pitch squeeling noise only starts when youve been driving for a bit and varies in intensity, it seems to change depending on the direction you are steering and stops under braking.

Needless to say my trip to the ring and back in April was interesting....

Ive tried taking the surface of the pads off and giving a lead-in,
bending the heat shield out of the way,
grinding down the metal pins by several mm,
        fitting the porsche anti-squeel shims,
        cleaning up and brake dust
        and replacing the wheel bearing

        ... all to no avail.

I'll give the plasti-lube stuff a go, does anyone have any going? If that doesnt work ive pretty much exhausted all options

yep, when i have had noise (usually on the drivers side) then its a case if remove the pads, clean everything up and then it all settles down again. usually need some tlc every 4-6 months. Also make sure the carrier pins are well away from the disc face or even a small amount of heat will mean things will expand and contact.

other thing is if the backing plates are knackered then you get that klunk sound as the disc is not drawn back from the disc face, sometimes it just needs a wiggle of the steering wheel and they move again, also find it if you reverse too. plastilube the pins and the contact point on the pads where they meet the pins and should work ok.

          hope that helps,

Sonic, I had this exact problem.

            - I removed the heat shields just to eliminate them from the equation - no difference
            - Continually cleaned the calipers and pads - no difference
            - Used copper grease - no difference
            - Cleaned off copper grease and used plenty of plasti-lube - no difference

However, I have recently fitted new top mounts, new drop links, new track rods, superflex anti roll bar bushes and the noise although not completely gone has reduced to the point where I really struggle to hear it.
I think it was the drop links as one was ruined and I think causing some vibration.

I got plasti-lube from my main dealer for about £2. They had to get it from germany which probably cost them £10

I got all the above suspension components from Pete at Quattro Corner for a very good price and it has improved the front end.

I have the same squeeling, with my me mainly left front.
Textar or Ferodo made no difference with me, I also removed the shields.
I also do some TLC every 4 to 6 months.

I had plastilube on the anti squeel pads, tried the porsche ones --> no difference.
Now running Textar with Audi pads and coppergrease.

I did bent the spring a little last time so it just touches the pads, hopes this makes a difference and eliminates the frequency.
Haveto wait and see, now runing for 2 months like this (~1500km)

When i used to work for volvo () we used to use a silicone graese on all the shims to stop squealing noises. Got told to put it on all the brake pad shims by head office so it was obviously an issue to them too. Might have a tube or so left in the tool box somewhere if anyone wants to try it. I'll have a look tomorrow.......

Well Texstars pads squeel also i changed the Ferodo,s for Texstars with much less bite
the RSR is in the garage for months now because i have no time for it anymore
but the last time i cleaned them and drove a few miles there was no squeeling noise
so make sure the pistons move freely in you caliper and the pads also copper grease
that s..t and i hope the noise stays away for a while.

                      Cheers guys

I dedicated a whole day to sorting this one out last saturday, prior to my 300 mile drive to norwich for christmas, which would have resulted in going completely insane.

When i took off the caliper from the offending side it was clear that was a slight groove all round the inside of the disk. I filed this down and noticed there was a corresponding mark on the inside pad. This was then cleaned up and sanding down with a leading edge. I did the same to the other side...... AND NO NOISE!!!!

No sure how long it will be sorted for, but damn the sound of normal road noise is so satisfying!

I'd replaced all the suspension stuff over the past year, with no change.
