I had exactly the same problem as this, tried all the usual suggestions to get rid but as soon as the brakes got hot the constant squealing and vibration returned.
I swapped the used calipers for some delivery mileage (50miles) as good as new calipers and it completely went away immediately. Nothing else was changed whatsoever...
I don't mind squealing brakes, sounds almost rally like so I don't care too much. The annoying noise that occurs once I'm on the move is a killer though so for that reason I either need to find someone who can rebuild/refurb my calipers or buy some new ones.
I PMed GT500 (Rob) in regards to having the calipers rebuilt but didn't hear anything back. Anyone know of anybody?
I spoke to some very knowledgeable people at work who proposed a solution to this issue. i occassionally get it terribly.
In a couple of weeks I'm gonna re-seal my calipers and will try their solution and let you know.
will get the wheels off today and have a nosey as hoping to get out for at least one session at Coombe tomorrow and want to be sure everything is working as it should. I personally think i have managed to bend one pad damper on the passenger side front when trying to get it off the previous pad and thats the cause of mine now
David, I reckon one of the pistons isn't returning properly and as a consequence is pushing the pad onto the disc. Not entirely sure if that's the case but I couldn't get the piston to return fully.
Eitherway, the calipers get so much muck in them (and have probably covered thousands of hard miles) that it's probably worth a rebuild. Now to fins someone who knows what they are doing and won't charge the earth!
hmm, just cleaned up the passenger side which was noisy and i think its a lazy piston on the inside top of the caliper. The top side of the pad where it sits on the carrier pin is through the paint to the metal so there has been a few thousand miles of slowly grinding it. pad faces dont appear in bad shape and wear is even. to be honest it never lost its braking effectiveness even with the noise but will track it tomorrow at coombe and see if its gone. usually makes a noise on light braking and once warm, so must be some kind of thermal expansion.
anyway, all clean and lubed so fingers crossed its all good again
