I have very good hand brake on my rs2 after replacing two cables, shoes, all internal inside wheel disc. I think will be alot cheaper to do that then doing additional hand brake.
I am with Robo on this one. My handbrake was poor however on replacing the rear wheel hub the handbrake backing plate attachment fell to bits.
I replaced back plate, springs and shoes on both sides (thanks vagparts) with the result it works as it should. Do yourself a favour and replace the lot. Then get it correctly set up (mine showed improvement with this before replacement).
Still worth pulling GENTLY on at low speeds occasionally to keep shoe contact area clean
Very often on the RS2 the handbrake becomes poor, this is mainly due to corrosion on the inside of the shoe contact face. Most people "live" with it as the discs are very expensive from Audi, infact so are the shoes (£70ish). The only way is to bite the bullet and spend the cash, then you can have a good h/brake.

My handbrake has been working well since I replaced the shoes, all the springs and cleaned up the inside of the drum part of the rear disc. I got all the bits from one of the Porsche specialists as all the bits are generic Porsche and cheaper that way. Like the other RS2 guys have said it was much easier and cheaper than looking at an alternative.

well,im still looking into this matter,so anyone knows where i can find something like this handbrake caliper made from brembo?
i dont care if it isnt for brembo, only that it fits on a 299x24mm rear disc even if it is no name.

isnt it possible to modify a urS4 rear caliper to take another 4mm? maybe remove som material or grind down the pads..
i have cayenne rear discs on my RS2 330x28, and use one set of calipers for braking and one set of calipers for the handbrake. (have hydraulic handbrake on mine)
You could use a caliper from a URS4 just to get the handbrake. I mean, it can take a 22mm disc, grind a bit and there you are - 24mm. I would be heavy but the pads are atleast decently priced.
I had a wild idea about using Volvo 240 front calipers at the rear. Those calipers have dual inlets, one inlet operates two of the pistons, one on each side. The other inlet serves the two other pistons. One of the inlets for hanbrake, the other for regular brakes. But, that would leave me with a rather small piston for the rear brakes, I would probably wear the pads more on one end and so on. And it's kind of heavy too. Would be cool though, I'd like a hydraulic h/b!
EDIT: Ridgeracer... As I was writing my reply you wrote the same thought. Spooky!
so since im thinking of keeping the porsche calipers for brakes,do you think the URS4 caliper can be used/added for handbrake caliper?
i dont want to have anything big in there, just a small caliper that would just work as parking brake.
nothing fancy!
so i have to grind off metal from the calipers,to fit the discs and then the pads a little to allow space for the disc to move freely without touching the disc while driving, correct?

hey fourrings....this may well be the best option there is!it is perfect!
now i only need to find out if it works on the brake calipers i have and just buy the kit!
how will i mount the extra caliper on the rear disc?do i have to manufacture extra mounts?
also it seems that the link fourrings provided that the merlin company either sells inserts for specific brembo calipers,or sells the whole caliper package altogether with cables....and they dont have an email address either, only a telephone number!!!!
how will i send pictures to them????? grrr
