  • Coupe Quattros without ABS

    As the title says,

Were there any Coupe Quattro models that came without ABS brakes?
Thinking about removing the ABS on the car. Want it to go through the "MOT" over here in Norway.

I've sent the "MOT" a mail where I explain that my car has an option to turn ABS off but they haven't answered yet and I'm starting to
think they do not want to answer.

B2 coupe quattro had ABS as option, B3 had it as standard, certainly in the UK anyway.

I have a 1990 ACOQ 7A with ABS turn off button.
Why do You want to remove the ABS, Just push the btn and it's not activated ...
( Think it's some info in the forum somewhere on how to retrofit "ABS turn off button" for those not having it )

Don't want to bother with the sensors etc when im rebuilding and doing the brakebomb delete. The ABS on the s2 isnt the best either so its "just in the way".

mby leave the sensors in place but not connected, then make a delay-circuit to turn off the ABS warning light ?

Yup, depends if they notice the ABS wiring and etc in engine room.
Dont like workaround, want paper on it.

Can anyone confirm if the ABS stays off if its off when you turn the car off? I cant remember if it resets like on newer cars or if its off when you push the button off.

Keep the wiring with dummy connectors.
I think the only way to get it MOT'ed (here) in Norway w/o ABS is if You get doc's from Audi/VAG ...

Seems like lots of hassle just to not have a safety device -the audi ABS I find the best I have ever driven with tbh, not overly intrusive like most, and keeps the car in a straight line.

                    I've seen people write otherwise?

So, why not simply keep it, with an "off button"?
Sensors are very cheap, it doesn't really go wrong.
It would pass the MOT and you could simply turn it off when you wanted (although, even driving my S2 pretty hard, I never have had a problem with ABS ... )
Honda CBR 1100XX Blackbird Turbo....undergoing major changes.....
S2 Coupe... bit easier off the line...
'03 ZX12-R daily hack.... lots of nice bolt ons...

Sensors arent easy to find anymore with getting some from another modelor cut and splice some wires, at least in the rear.
In the front Im not sure but I thought its starting to get less and less who sells them.

I don't want the system at all, I have no need for it like it is. I would like to re-route all brake wires without using it through abs and maintaining sensors.

I've applied for trying to see if its not possible to remove it. would be good.

I've managed to repair rear ones by bashing them out from the middle, and re-canning the sensor with a new can cut off an old sensor, and epoxy'd in place.

Fronts are available, and last a very, very long time... my front sensors are original, and when i did the rebuild i just cleaned them and refitted.

Perhaps drive the car with it switched off and see how you get on -I've done it and found it quite unpleasant.
