Chaps, where's the best/quickest place to get the DS2500s? I need some new pads.

The Redstuffs really aren't suitable for a street driven car. I noticed that the brakes on my RS2 completely lacked bite when cold, and even semi-warm. Checked with the previous owner, big surprise, he had fitted reds on the front and greens on the rear. Off they will come, replaced by DS2500's. I'm awaiting a quote from: http://www.raceshopper.com/ferodo_brake_pads.shtml
Price should be less than half of the price in Europe.1995 RS2 on Alcohol (6.8sec 100-200km/h)

I've had 2 sets of reds on the front of my S2. The first set took a big dump at Castle Combe year before last, seems like they gassed off during heavy braking at the end of the main straight and threw a wobbler, inspection later revealed they had cracks and bits missing. Undeterred (I wonder why) I bought some more and this time they came with the scrubbing in coating on and I followed the break in procedure carefully. All has been well with these but they are crap when cold, you need a few good dabs on the pedal to get them warmed, when hot they are adequate but not brilliant. I hated the textars, felt like wood..
I'm looking forward to trying the DS2500s to see what happens when you spend proper money on pads
Whats the Ferrodo part number for the Boxter brakes?Comment

Newsh, I had a set of EBC Reds which did exactly as you described at a track day at Bedford -the whole face of the pad cracked off the backing plateI've had 2 sets of reds on the front of my S2. How much did you pay for the Ferodo DS2500s, last time I bought a set they were £160 plus the dreaded (if I recall correctly).
Trust me, you won't believe that pads can make as much difference as when you plop the Ferodos in - they bite when cold, brake progressively with more grab, and have a lot more power than the EBCs. Plus they keep working longer too. The only downside to them is the sheer quantity of black cack (technical term). Wash your wheels and calipers regularly to shift it. I periodically (about every 3-4 months) used to take the wheel off and pull out the pads, give the whole caliper a good cleaning with brake cleaner and re-copaslip the pads just to keep everything ship shape.
Of course our man Robatron is now reaping all the benefits of my brake obsessions!Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...

Hmm, the DS2500s have arrived but dont look the same, the pad is about the same shape but they dont have the two short metal pins sticking up like the others did.. anyone got any input before I send them back? I bought the only pad they had listed for a Boxter I think.Comment
