Avant Rear Brake Upgrade - Rear Brake Porn by request
this is the original audi 80 cable connected to the caliper with that safety pin, and even if i fully extend the wire, i cant get t on the lever. it is just too short. On this pic, the wire is even disconnected on the other side - above the propshaft.
Well done. How did you solve the problem with the handbrake cable? I take it you had to route a little better to gain the extra few millimetres length needed?
The biggest problem was the cable that needs modofication, cutting the sleave. The clamp that holds the cable in the wishbone needs to be reset at the exact point. too backwards you will not be able to insert the safety pin in the bracket above the propshaft, too forward, cant insert the safety pin on the caliper. that is a real nightmare. get a lift. i have done it on the ground and it is big time PITA.
i have got a problem with the brake lines,it`s biger hole in the calipter for the line. orginal lines does not fit. is it a reducer i need to use or will orginal lines from S4 B7 fits to orginal brake lines ?

someone maybe have VAG part number ?
looks like you have come up against the same problem i have had....for some reason audi are now using M12 threads instead of the tried and tested M10....
I have a drawing for a reducer as I wanted to fit braided lines all the way
if there is enough interest I can try and get some made.....with the help of Bambridge...
Did you look at the Phaeton setup? I'm curious about that carrier and also about the offset on those discs. I have some issues with the RS4-b7s that I'm trying to work around. I can manufacture new wheel hubs so I space the disc out 7mm but that's not optimal and it complicates things a tad...
Does anyone know the length of the Avant hand brake cable? The length of that one wasn't listed in ETKA. Is the setup the same as on the coupé where the cable from each side goes to a thingy above the heatshield?
It's everything (and everyone) in the car that suffers when you stamp on the middle pedal :mischeif:
Carly has already complained that the seatbelt hurts her shoulder when I give the brakes a workout.
The RS4 rear setup should also fit but would need even more length on the handbrake cables. I'm thinking about trying the 335mm W12 phaeton setup next. Maybe when the rear pads need changing
Got lots of other stuff to do first though.
