John, I got mine from the local Porsche dealer. I don't know if design 911 would do an on-line section. They porker dealer should have them in stock.

TMD friction are probably the biggest brake manufacturer in the world supplying many many countries and many manufacturers. Other brand names which are produced by TMD are: Mintex, Pagid, Don, Cosid, Cobreq as well as Textar. They also make the OE pads for Rover, Vauxhall and many others. It happens to be fact that Mintex, Pagid and Textar pads are all made on EXACTLY the same line/machine/press. I am always quietly amused by people wh say Textar are better than those Lucas pads!! If you don't believe me, go here: http://www.tmdfriction.co.uk or here: http://www.pagid.de/index.html or here: http://www.textar.com/index.jsp get the idea?

Sorry. This is not to imply that ALL pads are the same, they are not. The new 1144 compound pad (Mintex) i find to be one of the best compounds. Believe it or not (this is actually a TMD patent) the new Porsche pads have a Silica (sand to me and you) additive to the compound to try and combat the squealing !! As a (general) rule if the pad howls around town at low speed then behaves itself when you are pressing on, it is probably because it is more a "performance" type pad. Not etched in stone, just a rule of thumb.
      Well I never knew that!
