Porsche crossover pipe trailing / leading

Anybody got any tips on swapping crossover pipes on porsche calipers.

I need to swap them around on my rear 421 / 422 calipers but can't get the nut to move for love nor money.

What do you think is the best thing to apply heat without destroying the caliper paint?

              Not so useful advice above

              a) Calipers were in a vice and the nuts began to show signs of spanner work

              b) Calipers are not on the car at present and cannot be mounted.

I'll go with :corey: for a change

I done the same job last night, Was a bit foxed until i noticed sides were different lengths then just swapped sides with the pipes and all was fine

Wrapped calipers clamped in the soft jaws of a large vice and used flared nut brake spanner 10mm I think, bleed nipple is 11mm

Try plus gas or something like that, heat will lift the paint

                Cheers PaulJ

I've got a couple of those, brake line spanners, the real ones are 6 point. Cool idea though to angle grind a ring spanner

You could try tapping the face of the nut with a flat ended punch and hammer. Just to shock it a bit, then have a go with the spanner.

looks like newsh has the idea, 6 sided ring spanner with a slot wide enough for the brake pipe to fit through, sykes pickavent do them, less likely to round nuts

                            hope that helps, good luck

Can you place the nut in a metal work vice and ease the caliper back and forth to work the nut free?
