  • Finally found a great brake catalog from ATE

    http://www.ate.de/generator/www/com/...n,tabNr=1.html

First good finds are sliding pin kits for front and rear caliper carriers -

    24.0101-3401.2 front (trade number 260043)
    24.0101-3601.2 rear (trade number 260044)

    2003 S4 Avant 4.2 V8 - daily burble

Purveyor of HomeFries and Exclusive agent for Samco hose kits (S2/RS2)

There are only 10 kinds of people that understand binary - those that do, and those that don't

That is indeed a good find. One question though, what UK based supplier could we buy these items from now that we know the part numbers for the guide pin kits?

Well hopefully any UK motor factor can get them by using ATE part numbers.

The thing I cannot find is rear caliper repair kits - not just the piston seal and dust cap, but all the gubbins for rejuvinatng the orrible handbrake. Dunno why I cannot find these yet.

I think you can buy the internal bits & bobs from biggred.co.uk, they sell most of their stuff through their ebay shop. I emailed them before with the part numbers for the calipers:

            "Rear single Piston, 38mm. 38 is cast into the caliper for Audi with the following part numbers 853 615 423 A & 853 615 424 A"

            To which they responded:

"If you type 270487160915 (ebay listing number) you will find the rear kit BR203816
Regards John / Sarah Bigg Red Ltd Tel 01905 428793 Open Mon/Fri 10.30-6.30"

Please do double check what you're getting in that price as i did not purchase yet. They are friendly and helpful in any case. HTH

Funny enough - those 'bigred' folk came up on a search and I could see lots of Girling applications so this seems like a good path - I hadn't tried to contact them yet so that is encouraging.

Why do you want parts for the rear Lucas - Girling calipers from ATE and not from Lucas - Girling (TRW) ?

@Pete - can you source the complete rear caliper seal / refurb kits as well ?

I need a pair for trusty old cast iron 38mm rears... Plus a pair for cast 43mm rears (as per RR quattro)

I also need a pair for alloy 38mm from 2001 allroad

Local motor factors have not been helpful so far

I wouldn't bother with the rebuiled kit as they dont come with parts to rebuiled the hand brake and this is what fails

I would recommend big red, they provided me with a seal kit for my rear girling on my old 20v, seemed pretty clued up and very helpfull
