Lance maybe of interest but I'm in the process of doing something similar. I've come up with a cheap option (bit heavier than I would have liked) using Jaguar rear calipers. They have the same set up for the handbrake cable, Jag disc is 20mm(?) so 22mm(?) x 300mm s4 disc not a problem. Just need to make a bracket to mount out of steel plate.

Just be careful with small mechanical calipers like these. They tend to be made for kit cars (of low weight compared to our heavy S2s) or for motorsports applications where road legality is not required. Calipers have to be capable of a certain loading per MoT in the UK. I did loads of research into the subject and came up with conclusion.....why try and re-invent the wheel when a solution exists like the R8 / Lambo / Aston which is approved and will easily hold the weight of our cars I've nearly finished the write -up of my conversion for the coupe, so watch this space folks

Handbrake option with big rear calipers. Could give some ideas of some diy mechanism for brembo calipers..?

Have been thinking about this mechanical handbrake thing. Seems that all alternatives are quite expencive. I got a pair of 4-pot brembo calipers for 150e and I don't wan't to spend more(like 200-600 euros) on mechanical calipers. And usually the mechanism moves in wrong direction to be used with UrS4 stock brake cables. So I will try to fabricate small and simpple calipers. I did already buy brake pads to use with them. They was cheap(10euros/4pcs) and are used in many different older cars, like Alfa, Audi, Opel, Porsche, Saab, Volvo, etc... so they are quite easy to get.

Design your own? Could integrate them with the caliper carrier.

We shall see how it turns out... First proto designs soon ready for cutting. The idea is to make a carrier that holds both the 4-pot Brembo and this mechanical caliper.

I have the same thoughts.. I have a set of Boxter calipers for the rear, but the handbrake thing had me waiting..

Are there any standard style calipers that can accomodate the disc thickness you require? If you could get some off a shopping car, which were alloy, then just seal up the hydraulic part and you're laughing. £50 off ebay for a common car... Could even shave down the pad thickness, if it helped.

The UrS stock rear pistons could be used, but I don't like the thing that the handbrake is always stuck on these. And also the hydraulic part buggs me.
