28mm thick discs on S2 are useless. My 30mm brakes are useless, there just isnt enough thickness to aid cooling, the discs get hot and warp.

      Tom,

      Horses for courses really!
Can't think of any production car whose brakes can withstand a blat around a track. Even Porsche moaned when people (rich gits) were complaining that the ceramic brakes on their GT3's couldn't handle the pounding. They tried to argue that the car wasn't intended for that kind of use!

Hey - you have been on track with my car - guess what - they are only 28mm thick. The original AP kit for the S2 uses 28mm thick discs.

They were ok - but I have new ones going on in the next couple of weeks 356mm x 35mm and 6 pots - fook yeah

ive got these seat brembo brakes, the brackets fit without any cutting and carving, simpy turning it round and making some 32mm spacers, hole centres on the brackets are the same, worked on mine anyway, i had already bought mine before this thread started so im not going against the grain - just offering a solution!

I'll be getting Lee to do some work on the kit I am getting to bring them upto his standards - I drove his car for 3 days and those brakes just makes the car feel so much more safer and precise - Not even driving it hard, you noticed the difference - truelly awesome

Sold the calipers on Ebay for more than I paid new from a dealer. Still have one of the brackets which is brand new and not modified.

I can take detailed measurements of this and the RS2 bracket if required.

The bolt spacing is identical on both. The Ibiza bracket is thicker which takes the caliper further inboard away from the wheel.
                        Mike,

Any chance of a picture of these Seat brackets or even better a comparison shot of them with an RS2 mount.

Are you saying that the Seat brackets would be no good for a 996 caliper/ A8 disc combo or just with the Seat caliper/A8 setup. I'm sure I've just read elsewhere you saying the Seat brackets do work although I've just got up off nightshift and I've not woken up properley yet so I may have read it wrong.

There has been so much speculation on here about the price and suitability of the Seat brackets that it's a relief to at last have somebody who has tried it and can give us a definate yes or no on them.

                          seat brembo brakes

hi i have seat ibiza brembo calipers with 312 a6 3.0 q disks 25mm thick and RS2 brake scoops .i live in germany and they seem good to me stopping from 155mph on the autobahn the only thing i would say is buy orignal audi disks and in the summer the car will be going around the nurnburg ring

Since fitting my 362x36mm fully floating brakes I would have no less now. They are awesome and despite immense abuse they are completely fade free and warp resistant under the most arduous conditions. I find the ability to easily lock the brakes at 155+mph with 255 tyres quite reassuring. It stops quickly and with the same composure as you would get from a normal car at 30mph...dead straight and smooth.

Dan can testify to their capabilities on track..but since then I did actaully improve the design considerably with the new floating disks.

You can really over simplify brakes very easily and you will likely get something good or acceptable. There are a lot of thermal and mechanical considerations in brakes from the selection of pads, disks, fluids and calipers but their success and failure is all about implementation. Large disks have their issues and if you get your tolerances wrong you will end up with a PoS. I like the AP hardware but was not a fan of the kits...I think doug can testify to the difference between my kits and the one produced by the manufacturer. Don't get me wrong, AP kits are very good, but not exactly going to contribute to good lap times in a road car. I know I am blurring the distinction between tracka nd road hardware but many of us either enjoy our trackdays quite a lot or even drive on the street as if it were the Nordsleiffe!!

We will be having a little look at Dougs brakes to make sure they are up to the job and tweak them if necessary.

BTW Those AP calipers in that ebay auction are intended for disks from 366 to 378mm so you will be looking at 19" or 20" wheels. They are competition calipers so will have no dust seals. Not a problem if you want to do a few caliper rebuilds for each set of pads.

As the brackets can be used to mount Porsche callipers (according to many previos threads...) I'm assuming that a complete Cupra setup would fit with 314 A8 discs. £450 is a little too much as the 324mm standard discs would be useless. Once again I'll try and get Brembo part numbers off the seller an post them here if I get anywhere.

The calipers listed above are designed to use a 305x28mm disc.

I've tried these calipers and could not find a suitable disc.
