Picture of ABY inlet manifold with cruise control fitted

      034 721 396 B (~6 quid) for actuator
      8A0 907 347 B (~3 quid) for vac pump
      893 907 415 F (~16 quid) connecting rod for throttle

NOTE - 3B brackets aren't identical in LHD and RHD setup to the above
Has anybody got a picture of an inlet manifold on an ABY with cruise control fitted?

I got the brackets listed by Paul above from TPS and they are the ones listed in the family album for an ABY but I can't see how they are the right ones to fit onto a standard ABY.

it fits under the IM bolted at the two earth points and the rod points up towards the throttle cam - Mcandmar IIRC posted a photo a while back.
The 3B and ABY brakets are slightly different too so make sure you have the right one.

Thanks Guys, it was the under the manifold bit that helped - I hadn't realised the actuator was under the inlet manifold - it's a tight fit in there fighting with the breather pipes for space.

Would be still be helpful to know if the bracket bolts up flush to the inlet manifold on the inside of the big nuts on the two earth studs, or on the outside of those nuts?

It explains why I've never seen it having scoured all the engine pics I could find given it's so tucked away.

The family album implies it fits over the top which is does on some cars but obviously not ABY.

RS2 is listed as the same part numbers so I assume it mounts the same way.

I'm a little confused with the switch functionality. Can anyone shed any light?
For a start, the system isn't installed yet, and i'm assuming that applying the brake or clutch pedals push the swithes IN. (Is this correct?)

I had assumed that the switches would function:
Out - Electrically closed, and pneumatically closed
In - Electrically open, and pneumatically open.

This way, because the switches are electrically connected in series, a 'switch' would be detected if one OR the other was pressed (open circuit).
And similarly, if pushing the switch opened the pneumatic path, then the vaccuum hoses would lose their pressure if either switch was pressed.

As it is, my switches close (electrically and pneumatically) when I push them in....
                  Is this correct?

Pedal switches are fully pushed in when installed, so if either brake or clutch pedal is pressured the elecy switch turns the system off and the air valve releases the vacume. As above both are wired in series.

Yep, that's correct because the switches are held closed/pushed down by the brake & clutch pedals at rest. As you push either pedal the switches open as the pedal arm moves away from them.

It's because the switches are mounted on the part of the pedal box that is nearer to you than the pedal arms so as the pedal arms move away as you push them down, the switches open.

BTW, how much are these switches these days?

Ah, it all makes sense now. I misunderstood where the switches mounted!
                        Thanks very much!!

I'm not sure how much the switches are... I bought the whole system from a forum member a couple of years ago...

Paul, you mentioned that there is a separate part number for ABY/3B/ADU pump mounting bracket...
I hadn't realised there was a specific place for mounting... I was just going to look for somewhere to attach.
Do you know where this pump mount attaches to the body?

If you look at the passenger side strut tower there is a metal brace between it and the firewall, it sits on there. Ill see can i dig out a pic.

Next problem is accessing the gromet through the firewall to put the oom and tube through... This was way easier on the LHD...
How do I get behind the passenger side dash? HOw does the carbon trim come off?

Piccys attached, the pump sits on a bracket with three rubber feet, then the bracket bolts to the car. My kit came out of a US CQ20v so i had to make up my own, its just a flat piece of metal with four holes in it.

Carbon trim dosent need to come off, i've attached a pic of the brain so you can see how it mounts.
