I was maybe a bit harsh as I was driving some backroads tonight and the high beam is actually quite good - and it is a very white colour on the road ahead.

Fitted my Vagparts HID kit today. Well impressed.

What side light bulbs can I get to match?

Sal_s2 - How long did it take? I was going to fit mine today, but I was put off by the freezing temperatures outside.
            Any tips?

Took about two hours in total because I replaced 1 h/lamp lens and cleaned the other one aswell.

I did as much as possible indoors e.g. drilling holes in h/lamp covers and getting the wiring ready so I froze for less than an hour.

Just follow the instructions on the Vagparts website, you cant go wrong.

Use the ballast closest to the passenger side h/light to power the driver side one to make sure theres enough slack on the wire.

              Good luck

Fitted my H1 HID kit today - wow what a difference!
Took me a couple of hours also - spent a bit of time cleaning the inner wings out after removing the headlight, as there was quite an accumulation of detritus that had gathered there.
Like has been said - follow Martyn's instructions on the VAG Parts website & you can't go wrong. Could of done with about 20cm more length in the white switch wire to the right hand light, as this would have made things a little easier - it reached but only just.
I have oredered some PIAA Xtreme White sidelight bulbs and I am going to give Osram Silverstars a go for main beam.
Excellent mod - to be recommended

GlynRS2 - did you mount them both on the same side then? There would be plenty of wire if one was mounted each side but as you said It needed more when both are mounted on the one side - better to have a bit of extra back there so you can still lift the headlight out and lay it down wihout having to worry about holding it and disconnecting the wire.

I've noticed white cars are very bright - it's definitely a weird feeling the first time out at night - that first drive makes the cost and effort worthwhile.

I'm not worried about my short white wire as I plan to use a bit of wire from an old loom I took out of my old Scirroco that has a waterproof plug on it. This would then mean I would have a suitable plug behind the headlight so I could remove it without a trailing white wire.
Would have attached a pic but my digital camera wasn't working - has now gone back to be fixed.
Really wierd driving in half-light this morning with HIDs on - I just had a piece of brighter daylight in front of my car - only really noticed the benefit they were giving when I tried turning them off. The colour of the sky was obviously trying to match that of my lights.
Certainly makes other drivers notice you sooner than with standard lights.

Yeah its a nice kit alright... my only niggle was having to make up a connectorised fitting for the white low voltage signal wires so that I can separate the lamps more easily. No biggie though - just a shame the spade connectors aren't supplied for that.

cor, I don't know....I have the kits made with 1.5 metre long lead rather than the standard 0.5metre leads, supply them too cheap (or give them away ) and yet the gang still find something that needs improving

You guys are a tough lot to keep happy

Simple mod though. I may well add this to every H1 kit in the future, thanks to my ongoing test crew!

Now, anyone care to fix all my problems? please......

We could easily make our fogs HID, if they are wanted then I'll make them! but even I think that is a little over the top! or is it
