You will need some nuts and bolts to mount the HV transformers - IIRC Maybe a couple of self tappers for the earth wires - I can't remamber if you get some connectors to fit these to self tappers or a bolt?

I would get a couple of in line connectors - for the white wires - that way you have all the connections on the outside of the headlight aassembly and can easily remove it. If you don't do this you will have to push the spade connector through the blue rubber seal or pull the seal off everytime to remove the headlight.

Yes please Ben. I may need the binders for the heated seat switches aswell.

      David,
I've got an old standard 4-pin relay which can be gutted and used in place of the bulb warning relay if somebody can solder the terminals in pairs ?

        Mornin' Fellas,

Just read through this thread, the pics are good but I can't tell the difference between your Hi-ins and my A4s standards (sort of) that are ******' propa bright I tell the! I changed the bulbs in Dec to 130/90s and am now competition with the sun!

Has any one tried just upping the bulb rating, if so how does this compare to HID's? and is the difference blinding? PTP

I keep hearing this "Garage meet" mentioned, are you guys headin' out for a power run 2moro? Don't blow the dyno, will you!!!

        Oz

p.s. Doug: Reading through your 13 page Escalope installation thread last nite, only got to page 7! did you get it in and runnin up complete, or is she still ongoing? Your baby's looking phat with a capital "PH" !

Oz, I fitted higher power bulbs and melted the column switches! tomorrow is a meet at a Garage to do a few bits, there is no Dyno there I'm afraid.

so be careful. The A4 is probably better from an electrics point of view.

Peter, I haven't had time to look at things yet I'm afraid I have not looked at the details. There is an oil warning system which works on that autocheck relay. I wouldn't want to screw it up!

The 20v.org empty relay trick works if anybody else has trouble with the Autocheck bulb warning with their HIDs. Mine has stopped flashing & beeping now

Nice to hear Roger's work was succesful.

Poor bloke, Came along to see a few nutters and ended up playing with as soldering Iron.

I must get a digital camera and do it again for the guide and top tips page.

All you have to do to get rid of that warning is to pull out the autocheck relay and twist off the K-marked pin and then put the relay back on it's place. And no more annoing beeping caused by the headlights...

                        Hi

I got HID fitted to my "ugly" audi (series2, 80, quattro, 3b and etc).

As its got double headlamps, I done some converstions, so when I need (very rarely) high beam H1 bulb, the HID goes off, and switching back, HID on, H1 off.

The kit for HID i used from wrecked Mercedes 4X4. Cost me £120 full set. The only transformation required to fit the HID is to adapt bulb holder so its possible to fit HID bulb to original H4 place.

Will send some pictures at w/e.

I have the same headlights, just to confirm that you have lost full beam with the outer headlamps?. You need to wire it so that the HID stays on all the time and main comes on as well when needed.

                              Barrage of questions here!
Which HID kit do I need for my 3B 91 S2 coupe?
What does it actually replace? Does the discharge bulb only work on dipped beam? What bulbs actually stay in there from stock? What are the bulbs that I would want to replace to get colour match?
Total cost for the 3B including bulbs?
The relay mod to defeat the Autocheck - how easy is this?

Dan - the man who said "no more mods" earlier in 2004...
Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...

                                Dan,
                                1) You will need the H4 kit, i.e. the same one which Sidspud is selling.
                                2) The xenon bulbs replace the dipped beam halogen bulbs.
                                3) You keep the existing halogen high beam bulbs.
                                4) You will probably want to replace the stock 'yellow' sidelight bulbs with PIAA Xtreme White bulbs or LED bulbs.
                                5) Total cost is about £300 new.
                                6) The Autocheck relay mod is simple. Easiest way is to break off the K terminal.
