  • Missing fuses and relays - Check your fuse box

Well thanks to parts daddy and 4wheeldrifter the Avant is running smoothly ( for the moment ) after a mini vag-com and test drive session.

After a bit of heading scratching and reviw of the wiring diagram by the "daddy" a cure was found.

The cause of the problem? only 2 missing 10 amp fuses from position 24 and 25 for some of the sensors in the car including the lambda sensor (returned value 1 fulltime, explains the rich running at the RR), ISV, WGFV, Charcoal Filter etc etc.

Parts Daddy nearly fell of the chair when he saw the amount of fault codes my car pulled back

No more 1k idle now a nice 700 rpm and no unburnt petrol being put out the exhaust.

No doubt there will be post of the codes from the above as quote "gotta get that up on the forum "

2nd S2 i've owned now thats had missing fuses or relays so worth having a check for peace of mind folks.

I'll get the printout scanned when I get home

Wondered how long it would take for the midlands mini meet thread. You forgot to mention all the quality television programmes we made you watch.

And next time your planning to break a pencil......Remember, act your age

Wow - must have driven like a pig alright... And yes I have seen several ill cars with stupid things like those (and other) fuses missing... Some so-called specialist firms/tuners have omitted to check for such daftness as well.

Talking of schematics - I finally got a set of 3B schematics in English last week... I now have three of the four mahoosive wiring binders needed for all the S2 variants covering 91 thru 96.

those where missing in mine as well.. but mine got extremely hot exhaust.. normal driving made the turbo and manifold glow..
I think the reason is that the fuses are directed the other way, making people think they are spare...
but I still got 1K idle
              need to check fault codes

Heh the 2x2 interface uses that fuse to do Vag-Com i believe.

@ Andy thanks It's a battle won but the war rages on, man against machine, the fault codes will be back
