  • Repair main engine harness grommet with silicone?

    Hi,

My main rubber grommet that has the engine harness going into the car has a tear.

To be honest that will be a real pita to change.

So I was thinking silicone from the inside to secure against water.

    Or any better suggestions?

Plastic super glue. Works really well

Only use the stuff for plastic and rubber. Vapormatic do a good one.

It is not to ridig/stiff for a rubber grommet?

No. It's amazing. You just re glue the tear back together. The stuff I got is meant for doing the two ends of a window seal. Don't use too much and you wont even be able to see where the tear was. I used it on my bulkhead grommet as well as it had a small tear.

          It’s very clever
We use it for making O rings out of strip.

RC car rubber tyres are superglued on the wheels. Doesn't come off without ripping the rubber apart. Just clean well with acetone etc.
