RS2 battery box dimensions

Does anyone happen to have the dimensions of the battery box from an RS2?

Did the RS2 have a battery box? I thought it was just the tray and "clamp" to hold the battery in place - I could be wrong

Wasn't it under the rear seat in a box?

I think the B2 80q (4000q in N. America) also had it but can't recall.

No, as stated RS2 and S2 Avant have the battery in the nearside of the boot. It's just a tray that sits in there with two or three bolts holding it in. I did remove one recently and had pics on my phone but they are gone now

The ABY coupe and the Ur quattro have the battery under the rear seat.
I moved the battery in my 3B coupe from the engine compartment to under the rear bench using a battery box cut from an ABY.
I still have the template for cutting the floor.
I could make you a copy or take a pic with a ruler in to scale from.

The Ur quattro battery box is a little bigger from memory, I could check if you need.

Assuming you’re converting a 3B or a CQ. Coupe!

I used this template to cut my floor.
The two horizontal marks line up with a step in the floor, the ABY box is made to fit this step. That sets your position forwards and back.
The tiles on my work top are 6” inches plus the grout, call it 6 1/8th.
Can’t remember what the two marks are at the top left, probably a feature in the floor.

You have to re-route the fuel lines and fuel filter under this area, don’t start cutting without looking underneath

You may find more pics on the forum because I know I documented it at the time, I’ve had a look but the search function doesn’t seem to work like it used to..

The outer dims are as you see on the template, I can’t tell you the depth as my car is not here at the mo.
If you want to do this conversion the best thing would be to get a battery box from a scrap car. You will then have the complicated shape of the top to match the step and the details in the floor and the battery clamp and ground tag.
