Always one for trying stuff out matey

Well, I'd take the lumens rating they have with a pince of salt Jamo. The higher the "K" rating the bluer they are. So in theory 5500K should be slighty yellower than say my 6000K HID's.
But in reality they are bluer.

BUT, I'm well happy with them. It's not so much the colour, but the fact that these give off a good bit of light. I suppose this is due to some of the light actually reflecting of the reflectors.
The best I've tried so far, by a long way.
A beer owed to Lloyd I think

This shot is just to annoy Si (HPsauce, I mean HPmuirt)

    Closer:

Without fogs (just to get back in Si's good books)

And finally the sidelight on it's own:

They do look the part after all. Good work Jas. Thanks for the pictures.
Can't wait to get them fitted.... Now where are those HID's....

Whilst we're on the subject of lights, what's the 'best' match for main beam bulb?

I've got some Osram Silver Stars onroute from Alan at VAG parts, which I beleive are OK but not exactly a 'super nova' spectacular match. The chap from PRI Racing highly recommended PIAA's Xtreme Force bulbs, and said he'd tried the entire range on his Audi against some 6000k HID's and found them to be better than the rest of the PIAA range....

However, PIAA bulbs are expensive (these ones are £31.00 the pair AND they're the cheapest PIAA bulbs - reason being they are now being discontinued by PIAA.)

Why is supposedly the best HID matching bulb now discontinued?

Does anyone have any first hand experience/feedback on main beam bulbs regards partnering HID's? (Yeah, I know they are almost redundant with HID's but...... )

Thanks Jamo for this post. I've since bought a set and with help from Corey and Rick from Quattronics, had them fitted at the weekend along with a Neuspeed 19mm RARB.

I have to say that the kit looks top notch, and their email support is good and highly responsive (I deleted my original courier tracking email - they emailed me the codes within 10 mins!!)

Price wise, for £67.92 DELIVERED, I think that's unbeatable - certainly as far as the market stands today. Recommended!

Is the MD01 kit the one to get? i see they do a 'slim' version too..

Mine's a 93 ABY, is that liable to need the wiring mod for the full/dipped beam prob?

Very easy to check if it does, put your lights on, then put main beam on (all with ignition on) if the dipped lights don't go out when main beam is on, then no you don't need to do the wiring mod.

I bought the non slim MD01 kit. I didn't see the value in paying an additional $40 for a slim ballast which weighs the same as the 'fat' one. Space is not an issue for fitting.
Anyway at 2.2Kg it's not a big problem.

I'm so impressed with them I'm now looking into an H3 kit as above for the fogs!

@ Jas, any tips for fitting the kit behind the front bumper?

@ Irvind. Before going off and buying a kit that may not fit, what style of headlamps have you got?
                      H4/H1 or ellipsoids?
What Corey is on about will mean diddly squat if you have the H4/H1 as standard. (IIRC 1993 S2's have H4/H1's "unless" you have retrofitted ellipsoids)
If they are H4/H1's then the MD01 kit that Igrees has will NOT fit your lamps.

@ Lloyd, I can show you pictures of mine fitted, but then I haven't got an RS2 bumper, so don't know/can't say if it will have anymore/less space behind than you will have.
The pictures are on my cameras memory card at work, so will put them up tomorrow.

I looked at the kit and it said that they had an H4 option, I was worried by the h4-2 lettering as I feel the -2 might mean -2 lights ie no main beam.......

Does someone fancy ordering a set to check for me?

If you have h4 headlamps CQ20v like mine or the 3b headlamps, I think the bixenon are the ones to go for at £28 extra. I believe there is an electro magnet which moves the reflector to go to main beam etc.

                              cost including shipping £101.22

Ah.... Anyone want to buy an MD01 kit when they arrive........? (I'll see if I can stop the order actually.) My lamps are standard, ie non-ellipsoid type, so what kit do I need to order to get some decent lights then? What about the kit that VAG Parts do?
