A switch of kit would have been fine normally, "after" a bit of testing etc, but the guy didn't even bother telling me! the .

I can't recommend any other kits, simply because I ain't tried any. VAGparts kit is the way to go, tried and tested by many on here and elsewhere..

Yeah, I think back at the time when I fitted them (about 2 years ago now) a few people had slightly different outcomes.

Nothing like a bit of continuity.

Correct me if I'm wrong here Karlos, but did your avant roll out of ingolstadt with ellipsoids? I thought ellipsoids were fitted standard from 94 onwards.

Yours going off when going to high is because they are retrofitted, not as a side effect of the HID kit.
They have the same problem (or not, if it doesn't bother you) as the guys with 3B's and early ABY S2's that retrofit ellipsoids. All cars that rolled off the line with ellipsoids as standard don't have the dipped switch off when going to high.
Easily sorted by doing that wire switching mod on the headlight stalk.
Only downside I can see with the dipped going off when using HID's is the ballasts don't like to be turned on and off all the time. IIRC Steve (fatty) had to replace one of his because of that reason.

@ Jamo, thanks for the eBay links. Very good price.

As I don't know anything about lights, can someone recommend which is the correct kit for the RS2 please. Is it possible to fit bi-xenon?
Which would be the correct kit if I wanted to go crazy and add some to the fogs too?

              Cheers,
              RS2+ (now sold...)

                Cheers,
Bi-zenon = no. Well, in theory you could buy an extra H1 kit for the highbeam, but you'd lose the ability to flash your lights, an MOT failure.

H1 kit for the headlights, in whichever colour temp you'd like to go for. 6000k is the recommended colour temp.
Looking in the FA, it says the RS2 fogs have H3 bulbs the same as the S2 (even though I realise the fogs are different, just going off what the FA states, please check this.), so an H3 kit, again in 6000k.
Beware though, getting an HID foglight setup to fit behind the bumper is no easy task, be prepared to have to remove the bumper to site the ballasts.

I had 6 LED lights in my old S2, think S2Ian has the blue ones I bought before that at the moment though.

I've been meaning to buy some 9 LED ones to test.
In the name of science, or maybe in the name of having sidelights to match HID's , I bought some of these the other day Jamo. Just turned up today.
Only concern I have with LED sidelights is that LED's tend to be one directional in their focus, and won't throw any light back over to shine off the reflector.
Will prepare my knuckles for a good skinning and fit them them later on today. Will put a piccie up of what they look like after I stop the bleeding.

Well, science just proved that a big round thing won't go through a small round hole.
The head of the LED bulb is way to big to fit our sidelights.
So, avoid that link further up.

They are a wedge fitting mate, so IIRC the wrong fitment for a urS4 which has a bayonet type fitment?

Anyway, not to worry, I'll prolly give em to some young pup at work and tell him they are a new 9 x LED washer jet bulb
