Urgent! Where can I find RPM signal / speed Signal?
Its there alright - follow S2central thru the cluster part of the technical chapter - there are pinouts of the various connectors. I'll have a look if you can't find what you need.
That page is flakey somehow - you'll find what you need on pin 22 (twenty-two) of the yellow 26-pin connector on the cluster. With a meter you can trace that connection to the pins on the rear of the tacho... Up to you how best you need to make the connection.
WHat are you wiring up out of interest ?
Don't forget that many 3rd party devices do not understand 5-cyl rpm signal.
After looking through your papers and me Bently manual etc. I came to the conclusion that I needed the VVS signal? Located on Pin 18 on connector 26A, perhaps I was mistaken there?
Anyways I need it for my Cruise Control and for my Zeitronix datalogger
Want to start it up tomorrow to see how it works, but it does seem that I need to wait a couple of days since it is snowing right now and I dont fancy going 200km/t+ in this weather
VSS you mean - that is vehicle speed signal - commonly found as white/blue cable across much of the loom - behind cluster, centre console, ABS, Cruise, difflock etc etc
VSS tells us how fast the car is moving - surely the Zeitronix cannot understand that signal ?
Zeitronix could make sense of engine RPM if it can cater for 5-cyl engine (think it does)
Yeah buts that only meaningful to an ECU a millivolt sawtooth waveform... The ECU reformats the signal into 'line level' that a rev counter understands.
Anybody that knows where I can get the RPM signal Speed signal from?
I was hoping that I could get it somewhere in the instrument cluster?
Cheers
Jonas
When I'm looking for signal outputs I tap into wiring near the ECU plug, that way
you can tell which wires carry what signals, start by looking on here,
ok, i'm gonna be putting in my cruise control over the next couple of weeks... Just to confirm, is it the RPM (Tacho) signal, or the VSS signal that I want?
