Drivers side i usually fit it under the headlight, passenger side on the vertical piece just behind the headlight. Its still hidden under the radiator cover so you cant see it.

I did mine a long time ago and used Bosch ballasts and mounted them under the head light on drivers side and on plastic cowling near PAS reservoir on passenger side

thnx. any pics of the installed ballasts? did you use tape, or mounting frames? Also, how did you get the lamps fit in the lamp housing: With the black cover on the back cut open?

I got fed up with the ***** HID kits failing all the time, the final straw was losing both headlights braking hard into a corner
              Back to candle power now.

                Hello.
THE BEST Xenon is the 4k3ºK ones. This is the more lux lamp.
If you put on a lamp of 5k or 6k colour, you lost luminity; you lost "light power".

And only the better HID kits have electronic ballast with AC circuits. Obviusly the chinesse kits aren't ACs.

I have dug up some old threads for you.

                  HID Install and Earthing

and Dougs using the old VagParts kits

I probably have some more pics tucked away at home too.

I fitted these back in 2004 and have the original bulbs and ballasts still fitted.

I've always had 35w 6000k HID's in my S2, but I've just fitted a set of 55w 4300K HID's in the A6 and the difference is amazing, I'm going to order a set for the S2 now
