Has anybody got the part number for those red socks ? I haven't got any on my bulbs - explains why my cluster illumination is just orange.

That wiring mod on the back is wierd, does it look like someone has done it?? Maybe thats why the dash lights go out. Thats cool tho, no distractions when on main beam nailing it down the back roads!!! I want to do that to mine.sigpic

I didn't get the red ones though,,,I got the white. They were a bit brighter than OEM but that didn't matter as I just turned down the dimmer a touch.Originally posted by Doug_RS2

The dash still lit up red/orange because they shone through the red/orange opaik cutouts in the dial faces,,,,,don't know if the grey S2 clocks have clear cutouts, hence the reason for the rubber cap things on Dougs,,,,,,,If you know what I mean,,

Hmm, 15, lots of bulbs!
Just read a write up by a kiddie on that site who did the cluster in his Clio, he took it all apart and sanded off the back of the dials to get rid of the orange colour.. If I had a spare set of guages I'd give it a try.
I have a problem with my LCD computer display anyway.Comment

Just done a quick piccy of what they'd look like with blue bulbs behind (Blue led torch through a spare dial face) Gauge face is from a spare set of clocks (UN4) I got through ebay so I could do a run through of taking them apart,,,,without messin the old 2.3e's upOriginally posted by newshHmm, 15, lots of bulbs!

Doug,,,as Tom says thats not normal,,,some sort of bodge up there, maybe got something to do with your main beam problem. not on my cluster...no additonal spag wires to be seen, even on my spare set of dials.
clear LEDs will do as the dial faces create the red effect on mine.
inderesting to note that I have seen 3 different shades of dial colours on the S2. Not the faces but the backlight...seems that some of the bulbs have a little rubber red sock too on some models: Like tiny red rubber condom.1995 S2 Avant with some upgrades

There is defintely something wrong! Those wires are a bad idea as you can easily connect one bulb the wronfg way round to short out the +12v to Ground when you put the high beam light on!
