Looks cool but the cover may hold in too much heat for the coil setup?

Might be Domenico Pescatore - 80 Euros + post.

Still think they will trap too much heat.

It is not Domenico Pescatore it is a guy on eBay.

Very Nice quality , but you need to modify your valve cover to use it.

He also sells boost gauge holders etc.

Thanks for the replies guys & the link. I do like this look as its a clean look i like but i am a little worried about the heat. Is the coil conversion p&p? As in no ecu mods needed?

                Cheers

I would think the heat could dissipate fine enough through the top.

I ran 2.0 tfsi coils on my 2.7t and it had covers over as well. I had no issues for 20.000 km.

I bought a gauge holder off Youngtimer, should be with me this week. I'll let you know what the quality is like. Those coil covers look great though, will definitely get one when I take the plunge and go tfsi. Pretty sure he wouldn't sell them if there was a risk they wouldn't allow enough heat shed?

The TFSI coils need less dwell than the stock ones. Running them at the stock dwell time is one of the reasons for possible heat damage, so it's good to get the dwell tweeked in the fuel chip. However, lots of folks are running them at stock dwell with and without various covers and no problems. If don't live in a hot country and it's not a track car maybe you'll be ok. At the end of the day they're not expensive to replace.

Just reading that back, Anglesey = not hot but great race track!

The conversion is plug and play. I "invented" it in August 2005 and the wiring was based on using the stock ECU with the 1.8t coils of the day. I wrote a DIY about it in Sept 2005 using various connectors (including a difficult to source one (at the time) from a Volvo). Since April 2006 several suppliers commercialized my idea and created very nice harnesses that are completely plug and play. Takes about 20 minutes start to finish to remove the old system and install the new.

The coil packs are not an improvement over a perfect condition OE system with its two POSs (N122 and N127) and the five heavy coil on plug coils. However, it is an improvement over an OE system that has issues (missing at WOT, etc.). Over here, I can buy red topped 115E coils for under US$20 each so replacement costs are negligible. Diagnosis is very easy when they do fail.

The coil packs don't like heat, either from the engine itself or from internal heat generated by OE 4.0 ms dwell times (they only need about 2.5 ms). The dwell time typically only comes into play when the car is being tracked when the extra external and internal heat can hasten the death of a coil pack.

I have had to replace only 3 coil packs due to failure since the initial installation in 2005. I replaced my prototype harness with a much prettier used Apikol harness in 2011 or 12. The prototype harness was still functioning perfectly (just ugly). I got the red topped coil packs because they look nice and were the latest and greatest at the time (2011).

                            Thanks
