  • Half of the lights in my instrasument cluster is off

So half of the lights in my instrument cluster if off.

I have checked them all and changed the defective ones, but still about half are dead.

Are the light bulps on the same pcb line?

So maybe I can just add some wires instead if one of the pcb lines are dead?

Or could I move tacho, fuel gauge, temp gauge, rpm gauge over to my old instrumenter cluster? I currently have a RS2 instrument cluster.

Have a good look over the PCB. Probably there is just a small crack on the track that can easily be soldered.

One day a led make a shortcircuit and my dashboard goes only the middle.

      Check ALL lamps etc.

IIRC each side of cluster had it's own ground connection for illumination. As Taavi said, check PCB for cracks and cold joints.

I had the same problem and it was a crack in one of the pcb lines as it ran across the bottom. Sorry I didn't take any pictures. I just soldered a wire to join the track but not at the actual break, further away where it was easier to find exposed track to solder to.

So I checked the PCB and it looks fine. Also tried with a different instrument and same problem.

So if the blue and yellow plug have their own ground, maybe this could be the culprit?

But does both sides share 12v?

Have you tried adding temp ground or power to see if either fix it and then check back?

By dash connector do you mean the blue og yellow plug or the connector soldered to the PCB?

No because I'm not sure what pin is ground and what is +12V at the blue connector.

I dont remember exactly color, but i advise you to check both or all connectors for poor joints

Ok so not the plug but the connector on the dash. Problem is that I tried with another instrument cluster and it had the same fault. So I dont think that two instrument clusters will have the exact same error.
