That link just about sums it up. There are a few different technologies available now though with better strength and stability. Will send off an approximate CAD file for them to price up.
Fitting my boost gauge

Lee, I mounted mine in the hole left by removing the middle vent. Just used a piece of black plastic which was pliable enough to pop behind the two retainers for the vent.
Looks a bit kak but it works and now i just need a bit of time to sort it out properly.
Cheers,

David,
We'll get together next week and have a look. I generated a file for a rough quote so we'll see what happens. Might be too expensive to Stereo lith one but it sure would give a pukka finish.

Mark where did you get pods from?
how much were they?
Reason orginally picked centre vent was for routing boost pipe but now dont need to becuase it has an external sensorGreg

Greg,
They sell them in the blue Demon tweeks catalogue, but you can get them in most good go faster shops. They come made for 52mm gauges but are easily modified for 60mm, thats what I have. What diameter is your gauge? If its 60mm you can have this one for nothing, ready cut, just let me know.

Finally gave in, got myself a pillar mount pod instead so started fitting that today.
lots of wiring to sort out for my gauge yet.
Question for mark, how do you take the pillar trim off so that you can get the cables round behind the dash? and also make a decent cut for the pod to be mounted?

Greg the A post trim, just pulls off, it's got three spring clips on the back of it, just pull!

Excellent, im cautious of doing that with all things audi because they tend to hide away little connections (liek the door handle)
Will give a try now tho.
Think will have to leave til tommorow now, near enough dark now. Guess you have to take the grab handle off first?

Greg,
I did'nt pull the pillar trim off, I just poked the the wires up between the fascia and the pillar, its easy, just use a lenth of coat hangar wire to push it all up from underneath the fascia.
Its a bit harder to cut the pod to fit it takes a bit of work/artistry
. I bent a piece of thickish wire (2mm) to the exact contour of the A pillar. Just pressed it onto it and it takes up the contour, and then transposed the shape on to the pod.
I Just remembered it has to be cut at the bottom too.
If you want to borrow my old single gauge pod to look at to get an idea of what needs to be done, PM me and I'll get it to you.

dont think i will be able just to poke wires thru becuase i have all manner of connectors attached to the wires becuase it come wired like that from the factory so will have to get the trim off i think.
Cheers for offer with old one, most of way thru filing down the new one now, just the last little bit. Did you have any probs with squeaks/rattles when you first fitted it.
See you have some foam at bottom of pod you see.
