Are the Injectors easy to take out?, do you have to de-pressurize the fuel system first, like the older Injection systems?
It is a very easy job that involves removing a retaining clip from the top of the five injectors then removing two bolts that hold the fuel rail in place, at which point it is only the injectors O-rings holding everything in place. Then gently lever the fuel rail off the injectors at both ends of the rail at the same time, which should just pop off. All the pipe work that feeds the rail is flexible so it can be easily lifted out of the way of the injectors, whilst still conected. You then gently pull out the injectors from the block, I had to use a pair of alligator pliers to get a grip.
I believe you can de-pressurise the system, but I didn't as I didn't know how to. There is a slightly worrying moment when you are levering the fuel rail off the injectors and the pressurised fuel sprays out. It is especially worrying when the engine is a bit hot

Hows that?
Kingdoms are run by Kings, Dictatorships are run by Dictators.
England must be a Country. :mischeif:
one concern... injectors measured 65cc in a cycle, totally different to the first post in this thread, worried, but they all produced this and didnt change after the clean, aparently they were in good condition.
Cannot do a group session here nor discount if more than 1 arrive. Sounds like they dont like cleaning injectors as its time consuming for them.

Feels like slightly more torque now.. unsure.
I shouldn't worry, remember my injectors are green RS2 ones so flow a bit more. It might also depend on what pulse rate the flow test cycle has been set to on the machine.
I think a bit more torque is one of the benefits.
Incidently my injectors took three 10 minute ultrasonic cleaning cycles to clear out all the gunk.
There may be a fly in the ointment about getting your injectors cleaned.
Having had a good motorway thrash over the weekend and have the opportubity for the first time to check the results of cleaned injectors, I noticed improvements to throttle response and smoothness, BUT I have found that I am getting occasional boost retard.
Most of the time I get full boost as normal maxing at 1.9 bar, then for no apparent reason the for next few times I put my foot down max boost is down to 1bar. Then back to normal again. Occasionaly when the boost is holding back at 1 bar, if I let the revs get up to about 5500rpm the boost will kick in again, but not always.
The only blink/fault code I am getting is • 2142 - Knock sensor #1 - Open or short circuit, Defective sensor Check sensor and wiring Symptom: Timing retarded, High fuel consumption, power loss, Boost pressure not attained.
It may be a faulty knock sensor, which I will investigate but it seems a bit too much like coincidence for it to fail at around the same time as I get my injectors cleaned.
I was hoping that this may be the ecu relearning the adaptive fuel mixtures, but I have done at least 100 miles so it should have sorted it self out by know if it was that.
I am guessing, although I'm not sure, that this may be due to the fact that my injectors are pumping out approx 3% less fuel than before (see early post above for the reason) and that as the car was remapped to the "dirty" injectors higher flow rates and as a result, the car is running lean and I might be getting a bit of detonation which is being picked up by the knock sensor and making the ecu retard the boost.
So anyone with a remapped car planning to get your injectors cleaned, hold off for the time being. I would imagine if your car is stock it wouldn't be a problem.
Doug/Mihnea, waddya reakon? Do you need to adjust the map ?
