well,i turned the gear 180 and it had no effect.done a compression test, all ok.it's firing on all plugs(when out).once i put the plugs back in it ran ok for about 10 seconds so i revved it and it started running rough again.i've even checked the drive on the cam(with my finger)no movement there,if there was i wouldn't expect the hall timing marks to line up when on tdc.this will be so simple when i find out what's wrong i'll look at right dummy.

the latest.it's now decided to run ok apart from going of one cylinder for a couple of seconds, then clearing.it makes a clacking noise when it misfires.which led me to think cam chain.do they have a hydraulic tensioner?

Chain has no hydraulic tensioner. Check the distributor cap for tracking (even if replaced last week) and also rotor arm.

Hall sender in distributor could be intermittent.

Be sure that the static timing, flywheel mark 0 in bellhousing window (0 should be cut in half) and dissy marks aligned. is exactly right. Put in high gear and roll forward onto the marks, check and re check.
