I'm getting a set of stroker pistons as well, so those will be included in the GB. Coatings are extra, but can be had if specified. I will get prices on them today.
The JE vendor this is being run through is a big audi/vw engine builder, and the JE's he sells have no issues with thin aluminum around the valve reliefs.
Where is the problem point of Je's valve pockets! I have heard that some people had problems with them!
Yes I did have a problem with burning out the thin metal around the pockets on two pistons due to detonation, don't know if its happened to anyone else.
In the next set I just asked JE to mill that area away, like OEM pistons, as in the pic I posted above.
They did no problem, no extra cost, and it makes the pistons a touch lighter too.

Can we also make a group buy for the Summer time! Due to the Rods Group Buy i am short of car-project - and overall money!
"Justin,
I like the FSR strutted / slipper skirt pistons. They are a nice piece and work well on boosted engines that see high rpm use. This allows a shorter wrist pin and gives a weight savings in most cases. Without the barrel skirt, some people feel that it will rock more in the bore, it is all opinion. I strongly suggest thermal and dry -film/teflon coating the pistons to give your engine a better advantage against wear and help free up the engine. I have the FSR's in my own personal engine (without coatings) and will be building a second motor in the future to replace it with coatings on bearings, journals, pistons and so on to see what difference it actually makes in power output (I have a company that will coat the parts for me free of charge for testing). The only other thing that some people choose to question is the lock design (spiral, wire or tru-arc). I have used all three. I do like the simplicity of the tru-arcs, but fell the spiral locks are the best insurance for preventing failure, but are a bitch to remove if the time comes (but I do have a nice tool for removing them).
Sincerely,
Rodney Huss
if custom piston is needed - bigger pin is needed ? even if it is not nessesary at time of installation, it leaves room to update, becouse its never enough
People are making 200hp per cylinder on 20mm pins. I'm not sure that you need to go up a size. Thats just my opinion tho. On my motor I'm going to a 21mm pin because pauter already makes 159mm rods made for a 21mm pin.
