    sounds like something i need now! I definately interested! is there somewhere I can read about this system, how it works, which components, what modifications is needed etc? my engine is currently set to 8200rpm and runs 515bhp, but i am planning increasing the boost pressure up from 1,4 til 1,8-2,0 bar, having a new fuel pump installed to cope with the delivery, but want to make the system as safe as possible before I do some extreme revs and driving!
    @ volcano: Contact me as soon as You proceed in this project, im def interested!

    cheers!

          i spoke to the company at length they haven't done 5 cylinder engine before but they said its not a problem to do so. the main problem is the sump once they have modified 1 then they will have an idea for the rest .according to the man i spoke to the pump can be located in lots of different places as long as you can get it to spin with the engine wont matter where you fit it . the tank can be fitted almost anywhere.the engine can sit a bit lower than usual because the sump becomes shallower so better centre of gravity.it frees up extra power which is normally lost due to oil splashing and affecting the moving parts i;e crank ,rods ,pistons etc but i dont know everything about it yet but i'm working on it .think about it when you mod your engine you buy stronger rods so they can cope as well as pistons ,stronger main and rod bearings metal head gasket high flow fuel pump , injectors and so on yet nobody seems to do anything to the oil pump that includes me . when i have more info i shall post it on this thread.

                If the fella is in the US would it not be possible to say have on full kit sent to him reworked and returned then get a UK enginnering firm to replicate it ...only a thought but if theres enough demand then maybe a group buy could be the way forward..

                Just a thought..

                      There is a company in germany, they sell racing stuff and have also dry sump pumps in good prices!

                      Dont know if they are so good like the ones offered here, and of course they are not custom made for audi but maybe you should check it! i think they sell the pump for 800 something euros!

                      @Another one

                      How can you lower the engine?? Dont you need also to lower the gearbox? Is it posible to lower them both with the Quattro?

                        I dont think a dry sump is necessary for 500-600hp, also for a road car.

                        Saying that Pace Products does dry sump systems, if alot of people are joined in a group buy im sure they will make it. They 4 cyl systems are for 680 pounds, not a bad price if you ask me.

                          An added advantage is you can run the system before you start the engine-Pre lube, also when the engine is shut down it can be left on a timer to circulatethe oil through the turbo and help prevent baking, depending o vehicle, savings on power can be up to 23%. We made and fitted one top my bosses brothers racing car which worked a treat.

                            Interesting thread - circa $2000 doesn't sound out kilter for a custom built system for the S2 application from a company that specialises in this stuff.

                            I think this a pretty hard-core modification - best suited to race & rally applications for the reasonse stated above... Less frictional loss in the engine, no oil surge and the ability to after-run - all of which must improve reliability on very hard driven highly upgraded engines.

                            I for one won't be buying one - until my lottery numbers come up for a suitable project car. The roadgoing S2 will be just happy enough on the standard oil system - so will the 500bhp monsters as long as revs are kept sensible.

                            In my opinion the stock S2 sump is pretty well baffled - sure you could probably modify that with some brazed in plates to reduce surge further, but for a sump from the factory its pretty good. If there was excessive oil surge in the sump then we wouldn't be getting the engine reliability we have from our daily driven S2 engines.

                                i'm not saying its for standard engines i'm talking about modded engines which have above 400 bhp .if it gives you extra power and reliability it can't be a bad thing .rally cars only have about 350 + bhp yet i think most if not all of them use it .even when you are hammering the car around bends it looks after the lubrication.if i can convince the chap that we might have about 10 dry sump systems mabe he'll do a good deal .
