I bought the Bailey in blue anodized, no extra charge for the anodizing, arrived in 2 days from my phone call.

On the car, fits easy and works a treat.

Doug, did you perhaps install yours the other way round letting it "chatter" a bit louder? The reason I ask is because I just read this in an installation guide:

Although the valve can be fitted in either orientation, I would
suggest that you fit it, THE SAME WAY ROUND AS THE ORIGINAL BOSCH VALVE. Recent tests have proven this gives a far quieter operation.

I've had the 006P on my stock ish set up for about the last 10,000 miles. I agree, it is a VERY tight fit in there!! but can be done whilst only losing a little bit of skin off the knuckles Since my ABY was chipped, the Forge valve does indeed chatter on high RPM gear changes, sounds bloody lovely too!!

I read about the Forge DV may work better in reverse fitment, so thought what the hell I'll try it. I can honestly say hand on heart on MY car, fitting the valve the wrong way round made a NASTY change to the car and I swapped it back to correct position straight away, and lost more skin

I have never had any dealings with Bailey so cannot comment with any authority at all, I am sure they are superb valves. Forge Motorsport on the other hand, I have and always will give them 11/10 for quality and service.

Mine is on the wrong way round - I think - what is standard? should the end of the piston/diaphragm be on the turbo side?

Anyway the Forge is a metal piston that rattles of a metal casing - that's where the chatter comes from.

Mine chatters like hell. I think its loud because its running large boost. Its fitted the same way as standard. Never tried it the other way round, might have to that!

The 'correct' way round is with the small bore vacuum line coming out the valve in a horizontal position, yup the end of the piston turbo side.

Define Nasty, ok.... I think the the way to describe what happened on mine was that when changing gear if felt like the engine was 'holding' revs between each gear change. Now this is fine on a racetrack!! but for road use, the car just lurches forward with every gear change. It just 'felt' nasty in the way the engine behaved. I'm sure the techie's amongst us can explain what is happening here, but thats my laymans description :-), it just didn't feel right on my car.

I'm confused Martyn - if it is horizontal - does that mean the end of the piston is in the inlet side of the turbo?

My piston end is towards the outlet side of the turbo - the wrong way round.

Mine is fitted the wrong way around as it seals better...no adverse effects. I had a few problems with my valve as it was second hand and Forge suggested I swap the ports...sealed perfectly again. It is all becuase the piston areas give more closing force if the Forge vale is reversed. What adverse affects were they Martyn?

I have new blue spring so will install it and put the DV back the right way. Chatter is probably caused by the piston bouncing with the green spring running higher boost pressures. Just a thought as the pressure will cause it to open faster, and hence hit its seat at a higher velocity when closing. The green spring is the softest one but they recomend a higher spring rate for higher boost (AFAIK green is weakest, then blue is stiffer, then red and yellow are higher again). I still have an old plastic piston for the 006 but am not sure why the design was changed...lengevity or poor sealing to the o-rings?

I have had mine for 30k miles now so I am going to renew the o-rings too. I have changed gear a good few times over those miles so the DV must need a service!

The vacuum hose is at 90 degrees to the turbo hose on mine. I.e. the boost pressure holds the piston shut.

                        Ha, can o worms again

Adverse - holding revs bewteen gear changes and just a feeling that you could tell something was 'wrong' hard to put in words, but the engine just didn't feel right. You know what its like when you instantly know 'something' is wrong? that was the feeling you got straight away

Yep, mines the other way around: high pressure on the side inlet and vacuum on the end of the piston for me. I never saw the effect you mention. Mine wouldn't hold pressure that way around Martyn but that was probably due to it being a brand new piston in a second hand body. Lapping would cure any sealing problems but I didn't have any lapping paste to do mine over Xmas (and Halford were sold out--or never stocked it!). My car is now officially off the road for a while so I can sort out all of those little 1 hour jobs that never get done.
