A maf cut out uummmm so you changed to this hose because the old/oem hose was leaking or restrictive............if leaking its the same as the wastegate opening to soon.

"my setup uses a 1 bar Spring" which actually cracks open at around half a bar......so my question to you would be are you using a boost controller in your setup....and the second would be how much preload on your actuator spring have you got.

I would say quite a bit if the reported high boost levels you see , under the conditions your describeing.

Gone way over my head already. Just ordered myself a wgfv as i have not replaced that anyway. I am still thinking the POS may be causing the problem but im not sure

I have a 15psi spring and about 25-26psi max boost approx, running a Mihnea Motronic re-map which utilises the stock wastegate frequency valve.

I believe the old hose was getting sucked flat, so restricting, suddenly and badly..

I'm only saying Maf Cutout cos someone said it to me when I described the symptoms, I'm don't know what it means..

WG Spring preload, top of the screw level with the top of the thread, about 5mm below the surface of the WG cover.

The boost control is what Mihnea has given it in the map via the WGFV.

This is great believe it or not .........it proves my point and the simple answer would be to ring turbo dynamics ltd and buy a new 1.8 bar actuator ..........problem solved!!!

Skip the 1.5 bar actuator plus boost controller , you'd need a remap to get it right....it will be the best £120-ish you've spent.

Not sure what you mean exactly. On stock engine parts I cannot run that amount of boost below 3500 rpm so I need the ecu to contol it for me.

Yes I dont like the feel of the spring plus WGFV, I'd much rather just have a stronger spring, you feel like you're driving the car yourself then, just how to get round the too much torque scenario at low rpms, dont want to be bending rods, now when I've got the new rods in there..

So how does the 1.8 bar actuator work?

Simple your ECu is mapped giving 25/26psi so the 1.8 bar actuator/spring will keep the waste gate closed just B4 this boost level which will in able the turbo to have all the boost pressure to spin it up and your mapping should account for this.

I would point out that the standard stage 2 25psi map does take into account of the short fall of an inadequate spring.........in other words the standard spring is not able to keep the wastegate closed as it should so the map would have been basted on this info to actually give less pressure down low.

The best setup for performance here running 26psi would be to use a 1.2 / 1.3 bar actuator along with a boost controller set at 26psi which will give you more mid and upper range punch along with a good remap/live map...........it would give a better result than a 1.8 bar actuator along with the standard boost oem system controlling boost..........but its a very close second.

P.S.......by the way obtaining one of these actuator requires only 3mm preload as turbo dynamics should/will state to you..........this give the stated boost openning pressure plus travel it then needs to fully open the wastegate.

So this actuator fits inside the stock wastegate?

I took the car out tonight with MAF cleaned and ECU reset and i had no problem at all. Im thinking this may happen after long journeys. Well i will change the wgfv and see what happens.

LOL, maybe next Sunday afternoon if we have the time. I've not done a short shifter on a 6 speed yet, there's some messing about with the lockout to do I think, MartynF did a how to on it.

yeah i have looked at that but u know me i get stuck on changing the oil I did have a go but the lock out thing completely baffled me.
Is there anyway i can test the Inlet temp sensor?

No disrespect mate but you dont sound like you know what your talking about when it comes to the Audi I5 boost management.

There is no actuator as the S2 has an external wastegate. You only have actuators on turbos with an internal wastegates

The mechanical boost threshold is set by the wastegate spring but the spring does not see see boost until the Wastegate frequency valve opens.
