Mine had an airleak untill i took it to the garage and they found a split hose between the turbo and the intercooler. To see that they had to remove the front of the car! Its worth doing just to eliminate the possibility...
Ski, if it was a burnt or bent valve it would have showed up in the compression test.
Why did you say you were sure it was the coil?
You say your plugs were black, like they're running well rich? This is often a symptom of an air leak. Disconnect the big hose from the MAF and plug it with something with a tyre valve in, then blow compressed air in and see if you can find a leak.
unplugged no.2 injector, made no difference, unplug a diff injector, u can notice the difference.
i thought it was the coil, but a new one didnt fix it.
apparently the compression test only test upper or bottom part of the valve???
ive ran out of options, it cant be air leak as only 1 cylinder aint working.. or can it be?
ive left the car with the mechanic.. too depressed about it.. he says around £500 to do the valve as i will have to undo everything i did on the cam belt change and more..
ive already forked out around £250 for this problem.. i cant afford the rest.. gonna let it rot for few months till i afford it. u can count me out of the next garage meeting
If its any consolation i spent nearly two grand :wacked: getting the head refurbished, only for a rod to stick itself out both sides of the block!
God these cars can be annoying!!
Ski, If No.2 cylinder not working but compression ok then check the inlet manifold/manifold breathers, is there a breather pipe coming off the inlet manifold in-line with no.2? If not get car running and spray carb cleaner around inlet manifold area and see if rev's pick up, this will indicate an air leak. Carb cleaner sprayed around air hoses will also do this. Is it 3b engine? If so, check dizzy cap for black lines to see if cap is tracking. Tracking is when the spark fails to go to the correct cylinder and "tracks" around the cap to another cylinder.

A6 Avant Tdi 110 because as the fuel prices keep going up I am so happy to be getting 649.8 miles to a tank of diesel!! (£50)
I used to know a mobile mechanic called Derek who ran a business called hav'a'tune. He was very good. He is in the Manchester area and was well up on these things. He may be able to help. He has lots of diagnostic kit.
Give him a call, he had a colleague called Richard.
If you speak to them say G1HFH recommended you to them. Hopefully they won't hang up!
Many thanx for all your help, my car is sorted now and running @ 100% (not tested under pressure yet).
It turned out to be a faulty/dead injector module, and after spending £250 on changing plugs, coils etc.. and just before me ordering a valve change, I used a injector module from my other audi and it solved it.
Once again you were all greate and many thanx for helping me, coudnt of done it without you guys.
Since im on the road expect to see me at the next meeting
