Does anyone have any experience with these type of pistons in relation to the suggested cylinder bore so that we get absolutely right the ratio and don't end up with stuck pistons or too large bores?
These have higher content of silicone and tend not to expand with heat as much as the 2618 type of pistons.
While mahle original pistons have up to or more than 20% silicone and require 0.02mm bores, these pistons I have are about 14% silicone and according to the spec sheet(JE from what I gather but pistons are made by supertech) require minimum 0.05mm and maximum 0.08mm for 82mm pistons.
Given an engine that will run max 2.5bar of boost(most likely 2bar) and be used even as a daily driver I'd like to get it right and have the minimum possible acceptable oil consumption.
Would you go for the minimum of 0.05mm or add anything to that?
I already have bought the standard oil ring set from JE with the help of AndyP which seems to reduce the oil consumption quite a bit.
Your thoughts or experience would be most welcome
